Vernon was the entire passing attack....

Imagine young Vernon with a coach like Shanny

Vernon Kittle >>> George Davis
I think this thread is a little premature.
As of today, Davis is clearly the more established and successful player, nobody can argue that.

However

Kittle has showed promise in a terrible season. Kittle has shown that it does not matter who is at QB (Beathard, Mullens) the dude will get open. If Kittle keeps this level of production up then there clearly isn't an argument, he would be the better tight end.

BUT

In the NFL, being a one hit wonder does not get you far.... Performing at a high level for multiple seasons is what separates the good from the great. Davis has had seasons like the one Kittle is having, but Kittle is having them earlier in his career.

Chalk me up for VD on this one today, hopefully it changes.

Vernon Davis has never broken 1000 yards in season to this day Kittle is ahead in that regard

Plus he missed (by 4 yards) Shannon Sharpe's NFL single-game record for a tight end ( 214 yards )... could have easily broke that and some if Shanny / Mully were aware at the time.

Vernon scored 13 td's in two separate seasons.

As of today the most TD's Kittle has scored in a single season is 4.
Vernon has surpassed that mark 7 times.

Like I said, this thread is premature.

Yes indeed. I'm all Vernon at the moment. However, this guy is having an amazing sophomore year. Hopefully, he can continue to grow, beast out for us and really make an argument for this thread in years to come.
Kittle has the opportunity but comparing 1 season to a career is stupid.

I agree with this.

The answer to the question that no one knows who will be better.

The thread is asking for speculation

"When the dust settles"

We have seen enough already to speculate how Kittle May end up the better TE.

I think VD suffers from not living up to his own hype. When the team started winning we had much bigger stars to cheer for.

Kittle lol... well .... no hype.... no other stars to share the press with. He is getting the Gore threatment.
The fifth round pick will be better than the sixth overall pick. If we drop down a couple of slots in the draft, think of that.

Thank you Lynch and Shanahan. An extra top 5 pick.
Kittle isn't soft like Vernon

Best damn game ive been to.
Vernon for now...
