Are we a legit playoff team with Jimmy G?

If we had Jimmy all season I think we're a 10-11 win team. So yeah I think we would be playoff bound.

I think we need to lock Jimmy up ASAP. Having him locked in long term, would be an enticing piece to have when we're recruiting FA's. Haven't looked at the up coming FA class, but if there is an elite LEO, then that should be a top priority, along with Center if there is a good one available as well. As far as the draft, we need to go BPA unless it's a position we're set at, like DT or QB. If we have a good draft, and get a couple more additions in FA, to go along with all our IR players being back next year (M. Smith, Garcon, etc..) I see no reason we shouldn't be battling for a wild card spot at the least. Having Jimmy G has moved our rebuild up a year or so, because he looks to be the young franchise QB that we need, and all it cost was a 2nd rounder, when luckily we have 2 in that draft.
With JG - YES
Without JG - NO

No, not right now. Not with this roster. Not a LEGIT playoff team. With Jimmy all year they may win 8-9 games, but probably don't make the playoffs. And if they do make the playoffs, they cant contend with this defense. Still need a legit pass rusher, some corners, an improved O line and a WR.

But with Jimmy they are seriously improved and fun to watch. They are competitive.

right. In a nutshell, this is us at week 15.

Can't name a single playoff team that we couldn't beat. We may not be favored -- but it's not very hard to see that we could win as well.

Patriots. Steelers. Jags. Eagles. Vikings. Rams.

We could win any of those games right now.

Your comment is fun to read with an Irish accent. Ah the joys of a small typo.
I agree though, me Niners may find a pot of gold if me OL can protect me sweet quarterback.
if we had jimmyG from the start...i dont think any NFL analyst would say we would still be missing the playoffs. With all those close games and Jimmy's clutchness, we would easily be over 10 and maybe even thinking about a first round bye at week 17.

Also, something people might overlook is that we would have alot less injuries. All those snaps the defense was taking really raised their chances of getting injured. Garappolo's ability to convert on 3rd down and win time of possession would of sparred some of our current IR personnel.

With Jimmy, DeForest Buckner, 100mil in cap space and NO BAALKE, who knows how far we go. Playoffs might be a minimum

Hyde was right...we are superbowl contenders next year. Hell, i think we could go far this year. We arent losing any key personnel other than Hyde who can easily be upgraded and we will bring in a ton of new talent with our cap space and draft picks

Let's not forget we will have a last place schedule next year also.

Bucs, Lions, Packers, Bears, Giants, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders, Chargers, Chiefs are all winnable games.

Win 7 of those 10 and half of our division games and you got 10 wins.

The Niners beat a playoff team... now we need to think off season... open up Jerry's Rice offseason... sign key players .... draft well and playoffs here we come.
Is water wet?

Looks to me like we can go 7-1 or 6-2 at home
No pass rush + weak (interior) OL = wouldn't go far even if they made it. Trenches must get better if we want to go far.

CB is also a glaring weak spot as long as we're starting a guy that would be on the bubble on any other contending team (DJ). WR and LB are also positions still in need of more talent.

JG + KS are a winning combo that keeps us competitive and in the hunt for a playoff spot every year IMO but until most of the other issues are addressed, they won't be a legit threat....yet. They're in great position in the draft and FA to do that. If they play their cards right in the offseason, it won't be long before they'll be in that conversation.
Playoffs easy. Super bowl is the goal now.
