My dad took my brothers and me to the last ever regular season Niner game at Kezar (they went on to play 1 more there in the playoffs). I remember the excitement, beating the Falcons by only a couple in a very close game, and my dad warning us kids about the drunken fans (For example, the players' way to the locker room was kind of an alleyway through the stands. It was protected from above by a net. A net, LOL. Beer showers were the norm. Also, drunken brawls in the stands were also the norm at Kezar. Ah, good times when we were young...)

from pictures i've seen it looked like a chain linked fence.

I even heard a story that someone got injured, so an ambulance drove on the field. I didn't find out what sparked the fans, but they ran out on the field and tipped the ambulance over. (not sure if true, just a story ive heard)

That is the coolest thing i have ever heard.. what a awesome nfl experience!!! is kezar a museum . anything like youth fb or jr high fb played on it?

Yeah, I saw my HS football team play a road game there on a foggy Saturday morning (40 years ago, lol). SI or Riordan I don't remember. Our team was lousy and there was almost nobody there. I couldn't believe how huge Kezar looked with it virtually empty.

SI (St. Ignatius) has a road game scheduled there @Riordan next season on a Sat. night for San Francisco West Catholic Athletic League bragging rights. I guess that's just the special occasion of the game, as Riordan's and SI's home games otherwise appear to be played elsewhere.

Don't know what else Kezar is used for today.

sorry,, i just like to revisit our history. i hope its fun for the guys who were not around then to hear about it. i wrote the niners in 1972 saying i was a fan and they sent me 3 stickers. two pencils, a stocking cap!! and a lovely color photo of the 72 team, i put it in a nice frame and gave it to my daughter in 97 when she was ten and really got into football.. she freaked when she saw steve spurrier in the front row! she hated spurrier as a coach. lol bet you can not get that stuff now from the team by just writing and asking
