Wouldnt that be a joy. But Harris was needed to start. Were actually not in that position, even if that statement only stands true right now.

49ers working out DB Leon Hall today, per source. He also auditioned 3 months ago. 10-year vet would add experience to young secondary

(Kolohe, where you at?)

Wouldn't mind at all Hall's veteran presence in the secondary if this coaching staff feels he can still play well.
much needed help

if we sign Hall then we get a new secondary grade.... C+

With enough pass rusher id gladly settle for a B lol.

Hall then would become the #4 CB, Spoon #5 and inactive.

Colbert,Ward,Jerome all can play CB as well.

I could see this. Rookie CBs typically take a long time to develop so I'm not expecting to see much of Witherspoon until the 2nd half of the season.

Good call.

Thought the same.. Some players are different, giving spoon some time to come along slowly is probs the better route.

Maybe being forced in accelerates his development for the long run.

Im sure Saleh knows where Spoon stands which is probably why were doing our due diligence and bringing in Hall for a visit.
Ward is listed as the starting FS which is unofficial of course, but a little concerning since he hasn't played a single down in preseason and as far as we know hasn't participated in one team session of practice. Of course he may have done at least one of those last week, nobody knows for sure.

Wondering the same thing...Jerome is listed as the primary backup so I wonder if he gets the start assuming ward isn't ready?

Definitely dont tip your hat to your opponent
I'm sure Carolina has been gameplanning to face Ward all off season

This ... I would think that they hope he plays. He's the new 49er glass man, since Ailington left.

And it pisses me off because I have/had high hopes for Ward!!! I don't like Tartt as the FS, hopefully Jerome over takes Tartt on the depth chart at FS.

The 49ers are the only team in the league that has their perimeter CBs switch sides of the field throughout the game w/o shadowing. Rare.

Thl has been all over this.
As i feared our cb's are toast. They have the size but they don't have the fluid hips and speed to run with guys. I see Saleh plays off coverage so much. With no pass rush they'd get beat every play.

Tartt made a few nice plays. Didn't really see much from Ward.
Everyone just looks average. Ward really hasn't impressed, granted he might not be 100%. Robinson shows flashes then gets toasted, k'waunn seems to fall every play, Reid has played well but can't stay healthy, Johnson isn't good, and Tartt has been fine but for every good there has been a bad.

These DBs need to be taught how to trail differently if that's how Saleh wants to play it, it just isn't working.
