I'm with you. We all have our opinions and that's fine but in the end I'll trust the guys that do it for a living over fans. No matter how many games you watch or how many clips you view the coaches watch more.

When are people going to understand. Its said over and over and over again. Being a good play caller or play designer does not make you a good head coach.
Does Shanahan dial up great plays at some points? I dont think anyone will argue against this. His problem is managing games and making s**t calls at the worst time. He should stick to being an oc. He also should shut the hell up during the draft. He obviously cant spot talent.

Come on, it has been reported that Kyle has the final say on almost everything. Drafting a kick in the third round should have been the end of Kyle as a GM. I think they should promote Lynch and hire a strong GM for outside the organization. Give the new GM control over the player personnel. I would want him to work with the coach but he would have final say on draft. This may piss off Kyle and he may want to move on if this happen. But I do not see anything changing if the front office stays that same. They need a change in the way they go about Drafting. Kyle the coach I would like him to stay.
This is a completely reasonable suggestion on the surface. Why do you think it didn't happen in 2017?
I think Lynch would look at a promotion to president of whatever as a demotion to be honest. There's two coveted positions to former players (imo) which is head coach and GM. Trying to promote him would appear like hey we think you're sucking as a GM but we like you and want to hire someone else as GM
The only reason I think nothing has change is because they like Kyle and John plus they fell they are doing a good job. Or they are afraid of losing Kyle .
Yes I agree I do not think John or Kyle would like this move. I still think it need to happen and should have already happen.

It's not even difficult statistics. It's literally the same as calculating probably of a coin flipping heads or tails. Take his historical fumble rate per carry then the last time he fumbled and you can calculate the likelihood of him fumbling in the next x carries. You can make it more and more complicated by adding in more factors like his injury and it the defensive forced fumble rate, first time SB appearance RB fumble rate etc...
Or you can just look at how he had a critical fumble in almost the same situation earlier in the year....
You knew it was high risk to try to have him run it down their throat.
The point is it's basic analytics... Shanahan and staff is paid millions of dollars... Yet they miss on basic stuff.
He's the best at drafting up a play. The roster is decent but in-game it's subpar. Very subpar. The team cannot even effectively manage the clock or run the hurry up... It's 9 years in and we're still screaming at the tv to get to the line and hike the ball when the teams down two scores...
There is absolutely nothing behind this comment save insane logic. I can't believe I even have to waste the time getting into it...but here I am.
First the injury wasn't anything serious. It was said had the 49ers needed him to play last week he would have. So he had 2 weeks to recover from injury.
Then the so called AFTER injury game which happens 20 days later
17 rushes 98 yards 2 TD 12 targets 7 receptions 30 yards 0 FUMBLES
Game 28 days post injury
20 rushes 90 yards 2 TDs 5 targets 4 receptions 42 yards 0 FUMBLES
Game 42 days post injury
FUMBLE! CMC's first since week 7 that season.
You: It was clearly going to happen!
Like I said...insane leap of logic.
That's not even talking about your "the playcall to Sanders was stupid cuz it would've been scoring too early" on 3rd and 10 take...
Don't tell me your in the same boat as the guy who thinks you can flip a coin 49 times and it's 50/50 that it comes up all heads...
You have to go back to again week 7 and look at how many carries since his last fumble...
Anyway I digress.
You really think it's an insane leap of logic to think Patrick mahomes can't at least get his team a field goal with 2 minutes left in a Superbowl to win the game? That it's some insane leap of logic to assume that?
Playcall was dumb because you needed not only just the 10 yards and to take the lead. In order to win the game you have to have the lead when time expires and the games over.
Leading for 90% of the game means nothing if your not leading at the end...
Again Kyle should know this...
I gave you like 10 examples just off the top of my head where the dudes getting paid millions of dollars, but I can grab you a high school coaches that are better at seeing when their RB or wr is bent over breathing hard to pull him out of the game for a play or two to catch his breathe.
The bar is so low for what you guys expect. Every year it gets lower. First 5 years it was oh man Kyle is definitely the best coach in the NFL. Then it changed to he's the best coach other than Reid. Now it's he's definitely like somewhere top 7 ish.
5 years from now it will be "well he's definitely in the top half of NFL coaches."...
I'm not saying fire him. I would have traded him for multiple first round picks though after seeing how he can't make in-game adjustments and fails to do very basic in game time management. Every year his value falls.
The only way he wins a SB is with overwhelming talent to negate his very obvious shortcoming. That's at least 3-5 years from now with good drafting.

You acknowledge Shanahan is a great play caller but call him a bad HC. Yet, the evidence you cite against him is about play calling not HC. What?
Coaches that win in the playoffs are ones who have been blessed with injury-free teams, and no HC can manage that.

Play calling in general and situational play calling are different. Don't lump them together

I totally missed that myself... but yeah, unfortunate for Watkins and fans who wanted to see him get more targets
