49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

I wonder if we are considering hiring wilks if we lose demeco
I think that goes back to the beginning I answered a question of it's really nice to be in a place that just worries about their best football decision and not, oh my god, they're going to think we had a bad draft pick because you're not playing him right away. Sometimes that ruins people. If someone would had got hurt we would've been pumped to play him right away.

This is Kyle on Banks not playing as a rookie....

A whole lot of people can learn from the bolded.

What's the relevance?

I think it was more intended to show what the environment in that place is like in a conference championship game. This would not have been included in film study, and was probably done just to illustrate a point. I heard that they do that from time to time on Fridays.

I posted stats prior to the game that showed Cowboys were best in the league against pre snap motion. And it showed on Sunday. Most likely due to Quinn being very familiar with it.

I was surprised that it was Juice and players that made Kyle go away from it. You'd think the coaching staff would have known that about he cowboys going into the game.

Great independent research. Whatchu got for Philly???

I didn't do the research lol I came across some stats that stood out to me and relayed hem on here. Felt like it was something to watch for.

Regarding Philly, I read somewhere that they struggle vs cover 3. That is something we like to run a lot so it could be favorable for us.

And Just saw JD video in which he notes that we used cover 3 to combat Justin field RPOs by dropping Hufanga into the box to help contain and limit the quick outside pass.

Someone posted on the WZ this week that PHI is ranked 20 something against 21 personnel and is one of the worse in the league against pre snap motion.

You covered their run defense the past 6 games too.

I wonder if Kyle goes less pre snap motion and just powers up straight ahead. The first sign will be the starting RG. If Brunskill is in there we might be doing more outside zone and pre snap. If Burford is in, it's power time! Burford had a much much better game than Brunskill last game...probably because we played to his football strengths. Just my take...

The 49er screen game was very successful against the Eagles last year. But that was *last year.*

I think they will try the outside zone and see how it works against the Eagle run defense and then change up if it's getting stopped, like they did against Dallas. That counter-trey with Trent leading the way was nasty at the goal line.

Yes. It was. The eagles D line was very aggressive early in that game. Jimmy did a good job moving around in the pocket and avoiding the rush but his accuracy was way off. The screen game took advantage of the over aggressive eagles D line and gave Jimmy some easy dump offs.

You've got this Kyle. Keep your head down in the play sheet but keep your ears open to your players and coaches for game flow. Keep being willing to shift gears as needed.

KS is a fantastic coach and I want him to the 49ers coach for as long as he wants to be.

But he has a history of questionable play selection in the most intense situations. Running when he should pass, passing when he should run. Some of it is also on the shoulders of the players (Jimmy G, OL) but some of it was downright bad decision making by the coach (not getting Deebo a single 4th quarter touch vs KC, not going for the 4th and 1 @ LAR 40 last year in the 4th quarter).

He needs to end this season by pulling ALL the right strings.

He already made mistakes by trying to be too "cute" vs Dallas. Juice admitted this in his postgame interview. He responded and so did the team.

KS can't "outthink" this. He is the better offensive mind and has the better offensive team. Go for the calculated kill.

Classic case of hindsight always being 20/20.
