100%. He's done an excellent job.

Yea. He took a running QB and turned him into an elite passer of the football.

I think having Lynch on board helps a lot. Players talk to the GM (former badass of a player) and they know he has the credentials. He isn't some guy in a suit that can't relate. Combine that with Kyle's intelligence scheme-wise, and it's a good combination that promotes no-nonsense, hard work, and with a HC that likes hip hop music, fun. I think that helps Kyle relate to players on non-football stuff. And the one thing they both did that helped them create the culture was they embraced the history of the 49ers. Instead of having to build a new image from scratch, they went back in time and brought back the storied history and reminded players of how successful the franchise once was and basically said, this is our new (old) expectation.

Good point. I agree. He was the perfect face-of-the-franchise hire - a well-known media personality that was well-liked. Yes, he had all the other cred but unlike the dour Balke and Harbaugh, Lynch exuded a warmth that was a welcome change for the organization.

When Lynch was hired, there was a lot of criticism of him for not having had any executive experience. However, in his position as a featured analyst, he had the opportunity to look into how every organization in the league was run - what worked and what didn't work. He brought all that background with him and used it here. Yes, one could say that Shanahan hired Lynch but even if that were the case, John still was a great focal point for an organization that needed just that look to get back to the days of Walsh and McVay. Ya gotta like it here.
I need that 30-year extension for Shanny in my life.
Everyone always talks about him being an egomaniac, but I don't see it. He seems like a pretty down to earth guy that everyone likes.

I'd hope Dan Cambell gets strong considerations. I don't think taking a talented roster like the Eagles is as impressive as turning a team around.

Only the ones who parrot what Grant Cohn says think that.

Yeah you shouldn't just get it because you have the best record in the league with no struggles to overcome(Eagles).

Should go to the couch that had challenges after challenges, yet was still able to get the team to the Postseason as a strong contender for the Super Bowl.
The key. ingredient in Shanahan's system is intelligence, it seem to be Purdy's chief attribute.

I never got that one at all.
