SAM: Michael Morgan (4.46) vs. Eli Harold (4.58); Gerald Hodges (4.70)
MLB: Bobby Wagner (4.45) vs. Navarro Bowman (4.70)
WLB: KJ Wright (4.71) vs. Ray-Ray Armstrong (4.69); Wynton McManis (4.68)

Was that Bow's combine time? If so, he played way faster than that pre-injury.

I think Lynch & Shanahan will want football speed in pads not just 40 speed. Can't wait to see how these guys reshape this roster

He plays closer to the first range for sure!

No doubt, but it certainly validates how in Seattle's scheme, the SAM can be the fastest...and the WILL, the slowest.

Wagner is an oger. A fast oger.

We have A LOT. But is refreshing to heard Lynch day we will be aggressive in free agency.

That said, here is what I think our biggest needs are:

1- QB. Obviously. Tyrod Taylor?

2- WR. I'm not even sure we have a capable #3. Maybe Torrey or Kerley if he is resigned. Alshon Jeffery?

3- OLB. We have nothing at the position. Maybe Ray Ray at WOLB as he looked good flying all over the field. Donta Hightower would be a phenomenal fit as a SOLB. He can blitz. He can cover and he can hit. All at 265 pounds. I love this guy. And if Bowman struggles to come back he can slide into the middle.

4- CB. Now that our best corner Ward is moving to FS we have a huge hole at CB. Brock is a decent #2. Other than that we have nothing. Maybe Redmon shows something to play Nickle. Reaser is a good #4. We need a shutdown corner. I hope Lynch adds a guy in free agency and uses a top pick on the position. Logan Ryan and a rookie?

5- DE. We need a pass rush. I think DeForest is going to be a dominant LDE but we have no-one at RDE. Brooks and Lynch are good backups but we need an explosive guy. Nick Perry?

6- SS. Ya ya we have Bethea, Reid and Tartt but Bethea may be cut, Reid is in the last year of his deal and Tartt has shown nothing. I hope we use a high pick on an in the box safety.

7- RB. Hyde can't play all 16 and is in the last year of his deal. After him we have nothing. I would not be surprised if we took Fournette at #2 and he constantly churns out 1500 yards a year. Shanahan loves to run the ball.

So if we spend big money I hope we add:

Tyrod Taylor
Alshon Jeffery
Donta Hightower
Logan Ryan
Nick Perry

And draft a CB, DE, RB and SS in the first 4 rounds with an OLB and WR drafted later on.

Thoughts?

Tyrod would be a great fit. He has experience with WCO and hes a lot better than people give him credit for. He has things to work on but hes still only 27. In 29 games had 37tds and 14 picks with 6250 yards. Add in 1280 rushing yards and 10 rushTDs. And this is all with one of the worst recieving groups in the NFL. He had a handful of games where Watkins was out there doing his thing. But most of the times Sammy played, he was limping around tryin to get over some injury.

Pretty damn sure his play would improve with a great offensive mind like Shanny's.
Good stuff. Add here: http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/187944-2017-team-information-needs/

I'd Ben down with Tyrod but don't think Shanny wants to change his offense around to fit him so think Romo if he's released or Glennon would be the better call. Trades were off the table I'm guessing.

I'd love Jeffery but I'm torn and rather go with Pryor. Either way id be happy.

Eff yes to Hightower and Perry.

I think you forgot about Robinson who IMO has true potential to be a #1. I rather go with Kirkpatrick/Gilmore but think Ryan can be a solid signing.

Congrats Kerley. We got him for free too...thanks Brandon Thomas!

NC, thanks for the nice summary of guys available for different positions...

Yeah buddy! Let's build this thing...

I'll go right down the line on some wishful thinking but mostly, try to keep it realistic as well.

Notes: In the draft, since Garrett is gone and ShanaLynch aren't sold on Trubisky, we go with a minor trade-back with the Jets and stay inside the top 6 and pick up an extra 2nd this year (40th), next year's 2nd and more (1,000 points). I cover the top 5 picks. In free agency, since we won't be paying for a FQB this year, ShanaLynch make a couple larger splashes in free agency elsewhere (Bouye/Britt/Williams/Tretter) and add a number of second-tier free agent starters and resign several of our own who fit the 4-3-under defense and WCO well. 7 of the 18 free agents are our own resigns. 4 are larger ($6M+) contracts (Bouye/Britt/Williams/Tretter/Minter) but nothing remotely back-breaking. The other 7 signings are upper second tier (starters) or third tier (depth) signings.

Draft = 5: XWR Mike Williams, LEO/RDE Taco Charlton, LG Forrest Lamp, QB Nathan Peterman & RB Wayne Gallman
(Free Agency = 18): QB's Brian Hoyer & Ryan Nassib, XWR's Kenny Britt & Rod Streater, YWR Jeremy Kerley, ZWR Ted Ginn Jr., RB2 DuJuan Harris, FB Patrick DiMarco, C J.C. Tretter, RG Andrew Tiller, LDE/5T Chris Jones, NT/1T Brandon Williams, SAM Malcolm Smith, MIKE's Sean Spence & Nick Bellore, WILL's Kevin Minter & Gerald Hodges and RCB A.J. Bouye

2017 Free Agent Signings - Contract References from 2015/2016:
RCB A.J. Bouye - Sean Smith 4 years $40M ($10M) or Janoris Jenkins 5 years $62M ($12.5M)
ZWR Kenny Britt - Marvin Jones 5 years $40M ($8M) or Randall Cobb 4 years $40M ($10M)
NT/1T Brandon Williams - Damon Harrison 5 years $46M ($9.2M)
C J.C. Tretter - Alex Mack ($4M) or Eric Wood ($6.725M)
WILL Kevin Minter (4.67) - Danny Trevathan 4 years $24.5M ($6.125M)
QB Brian Hoyer - Brian Hoyer 2 years $10.5M ($5.25M)
SAM Malcolm Smith (4.44) - Tahir Whitehead 2 years $8M ($4M)
YWR Jeremy Kerley - Stevie Johnson 3 years $10.5M ($3.5M) --- CONFIRMED
FB Patrick DiMarco - Jerome Felton 4 years $9.2M ($2.3M) or Cole Beasley 4 years $13.6M ($3.4M)
QB Ryan Nassib (depth) - Shaun Hill 2 years $6.5M ($3.25M)
XWR Ted Ginn Jr. (depth) - Cecil Shorts III 2 years $6M ($3M)
LDE/5T Chris Jones (depth) - George Johnson 3 years $9M ($3M)
RB DuJuan Harris (RFA) - Darren McFadden 2 years $5.85M ($2.93M)
MIKE Sean Spence (depth) - Brad Jones 2 years $2.9M ($1.45M) or Josh Mauga 3 years $8M ($2.67M)
RG Andrew Tiller (ERFA) (depth) - John Jerry 2 years $3.3M ($1.65M) or Erik Pears 2 years $4.7M ($2.35M)
SAM Gerald Hodges (depth) - A.J. Hawk 2 years $3.5M ($1.75M)
MIKE/ST Nick Bellore (depth) - Ramon Humber 2 years $2M ($1M)
ZWR Rod Streater (depth) - Marlon Moore 3 years $2.8M ($933K)
Total Annual Cap Hit = $68.5-80M

*$76,799,899 + $28.9M = $105.7M - $10M needed for rookie contracts
*Does NOT includes Kaepernick's ($16.4M) savings, Brooks' ($6.1M), Bethea's ($4M) & Brock's ($2.35M) = $28.9M

Offense --- 25
QB: (Brian Hoyer); (Ryan Nassib) & Nathan Peterman --- The Kaepernick era is finally over. No doubt, ShanaLynch will go hard for both Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo but it will probably be to no avail. Therefore, they go the safer "bridge" route where we are able to acquire Brian Hoyer & Ryan Nassib in free agency (both pocket passers familiar with the WCO) and draft the best pro-style QB in Nathan Peterman in the 3rd round; similar to Kirk Cousins in the 4th.
RB1: Carlos Hyde; Wayne Gallman --- Nice backup to Hyde here via the draft.
RB2: (DuJuan Harris) --- ShanaLynch resign Harris to play a similar role as Coleman in ATL.
FB: (Patrick DiMarco) --- Who better for Kyle's offense?
TE: Vance McDonald; Garrett Celek & Blake Bell --- ShanaLynch likes this group for now and wants to see what they can do in his WCO.
XWR: Torrey Smith; (Tedd Ginn Jr.) --- The signing of Ginn adds true depth and versatility and adds to our ST returning units and helps flip our WR core into a legit, diverse group. Kyle wanted speed AND size and he got it.
YWR: Jeremy Kerley --- Kerley was a must resign and they locked him up to play a similar role to Taylor Gabriel. DeAndre Carter & Rashad Ross add speed and depth.
ZWR: (Kenny Britt); Mike Williams & (Rod Streater) --- ShanaLynch go hard in free agency for wide receivers and get their men. Kenny Britt will play a prominent role in this offense as will Jeremy Kerley. They also resign Streater for depth. But the first pick of the ShanaLynch era goes to, Mike Williams. He'll learn all three WR positions and grow into a Julio Jones-like role for us.
LOT: Joe Staley; John Theus --- Legit.
LG: Forrest Lamp; Zane Beadles --- ShanaLynch draft Forrest Lamp with their 3rd pick who has played C, G, & T.
C: (J.C. Tretter); Daniel Kilgore --- ShanaLynch grab the best veteran C in Tretter like Kyle did in ATL with Alex Mack; he's be able to handle all the calls of his WCO which frees up the QB to think less.
RG: Joshua Garnett; (Andrew Tiller) --- ShanaLynch resign Tiller to push Garnett.
ROT: Trenton Brown --- ShanaLynch want to see the big cat in this system before anything else. With a FB, we can still run power when needed.

Defense --- 25
LDE/5T: DeForest Bucker; (Chris Jones) --- Buckner should be a beast on the strong side and ShanaLynch resign Chris Jones for additional depth. They both seal the edge, funnel the RB's inside to the LB's and crash the pocket.
NT/1T: (Brandon Williams); Earl Mitchell & Quinton Dial --- ShanaLynch sticks to their word on wanting to stop the run and gets the best NT in Brandon Williams in free agency and an excellent swing DT in Mitchell. Dial adds depth and versatility.
RDT/3T: Arik Armstead; Ronald Blair--- One-gap gallore. Attack!
RDE/LEO: Taco Charlton; Aaron Lynch --- Time to get after that QB!
SAM: (Malcolm Smith); Eli Harold & (Gerald Hodges) --- ShanaLynch bring in a familiar LB to this Seattle defense and Hodges is a nice resigning (4th best per PFF). There could be a real competition here esp. if Harold starts to make a quick transition. The SAM is the fastest in Seattle's defense and Smith runs a 4.44.
MIKE: Navarro Bowman; (Sean Spence) & (Nick Bellore) --- Here's to never having to see Bellore as a starter again (ST only). ShanaLynch add some much needed quality depth in Sean Spence.
WILL: (Kevin Minter); Ray-Ray Armstrong --- Nice young player in Minter and quality depth with Ray-Ray (ST). There could be a real competition here as well.
LCB: Rashard Robinson; Dontae Johnson --- It's all about jam-press now! The draft may add another long CB with better speed/technique than DJ.
RCB: (A.J. Bouye); Keith Reaser --- ShanaLynch make the biggest $plash in free agency here.
SLOT/CB: Will Redmond --- Finally healthy and ready to lock down the slot position formally, held by Jimmie Ward two years ago. K'Waun Williams adds insurance.
FS: Jimmie Ward; Marcus Cromartie --- Jimmie is finally moved to his more natural spot; plays lots of single-high S and Cromartie adds to ST.
SS: Jaquiski Tartt; Eric Reid --- This battle in the off season comes down to the wire with Tartt winning as the enforcer in this new defense (Kam Chancellor role). Reid proves to be a leader...on the bench...adds to ST.

What's your plan people?
