Round 3- CB Alexander

Round 3- DE Sweat (falls because of knee concerns)

Round 4- best gaurd, CB or RB available.

Which CB Alexander, Jaire(Louisville) or Adonis(VA Tech)?

Oh ya, sorry. Adonis at VA Tech. Bigger press corner.

Solomon Thomas - flashes athleticism but seems miscast at edge but not stout enough inside yet either; learning several positions
Rueben Foster - superstar talent that raises everyone's play but injuries again
Ahkello Witherspoon - inactive and probably needs a full year of development anyway
C.J. Beathard - won the #2
Joe Williams - inactive but no rush with Hyde (currently #1 in yards) and Breida and Mostert on ST
George Kittle - playing through 3 injuries but you can see the talent and mismatch
Trent Taylor - starting to acclimate and you can see the talent
D.J. Jones - playing very well
Pita Taumoepenu - inactive but developing
Adrian Colbert - already our #1 gunner and good depth at FS

Taylor is #5 in punt returns, Bolden Jr. #6 even after not playing game 1 and Pinion leads the NFL in punts inside the 20.

If our first 5 draft picks start to produce, this could end up being a terrific draft.

PS: Love the Matt Breida and Lorenzo Jerome pickups as well.

Thomas producing?
Nothing concrete, but there is a good possibility that we may see more extensions coming for the 49ers, with Carlos Hyde being a possible one. Just some information I got.

Current FAs after 2017:

RB Carlos Hyde
RB Raheem Mostert
TE Logan Paulsen
C Daniel Kilgore
RG Brandin Fusco
RT Garry Gilliam
DE Tank Carradine
DE Aaron Lynch
DT Chris Jones
OLB Mark Nzeocha
MLB Brock Coyle
CB Dontae Johnson
CB Asa Jackson
CB Prince Charles Iworah
SS Eric Reid

None of the 49ers 2015 draft picks are eligible for extensions until after 2017, so Trent Brown, Eli Harold, Jaquiski Tartt aren't eligible, same for Armstead, also 2016 picks can't either until after the 2018 season.

The following players can't sign new deals yet.

QB C.J, Beathard
RB Joe Williams
RB Matt Breida
WR Trent Taylor
WR Victor Bolden Jr,
WR Kendrick Bourne
WR Aaron Burbridge
TE George KIttle
OG Joshua Garnett
OG Laken Tomlinson
OT Trent Brown
OL Erik Magnuson
DE Solomon Thomas
DE Arik Armstead
DT DeForrest Buckner
DT Xavier Cooper
DL Ronald Blair III
NT D.J. Jones
OLB Reuben Foster
OLB Eli Harold
OLB Pita Taumoepenu

MLB Elijah Lee
MLB Donavin Newsom
CB Rashard Robinson
CB Ahkello Witherspoon
CB Will Redmond
FS Adrian Colbert
FS Lorenzo Jerome

Obviously the following signed past 2017 can sign new deals, but they likely won't.

FB Kyle Juszcyzk
WR Pierre Garcon
WR Marquise Goodwin
WR Aldrick Robinson
TE Garrett Celek
LT Joe Staley
DE Elvis Dumervil
NT Earl Mitchell
OLB Malcolm Smith
OLB Dekoda Watson
OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong
MLB NaVorro Bowman
FS Jimmie Ward
SS Don Jones
PK Robbie Gould
LS Kyle Nelson

Yeah a nice big corner indeed. I like him a lot, same with Jaire, but he seems like a 1st rd pick right now.

Thomas producing?

Not yet he's not but it sounds like Saleh is starting to get the fact he'd be best served inside so we'll see.

I really am not a Thomas fan, but even a peon like me knows that you have to kick him inside. I didn't really see a natural edge rusher at Stanford. (Hence why I was against drafting him)

LOL...you're hardly a "peon!"

The hardest thing I've ever had to edit in:

MIKE Navarro Bowman - Released

So based on what we've seen thus far from the youth who will most likely be here next year as cornerstones or key contributors when we're ready to make a run next year (with a great off season and a little luck) or the year after, here's where we're at:

OFFENSE:

Quarterback:
QB: C.J. BeatHard
Need: Excellent depth with Hoyer and potentially BeatHard but this off season will be all about securing a FQB.

Running Backs:
RB2: Matt Breida - #23 PFF grade at 74.2
OW: Kyle Juszczyk - #8 PFF grade at 68.4
Need: It looks like the future is very bright here and we still have Joe Williams waiting in the wings. Hyde has proven to be an excellent insides zone runner but Kyle likes the stretches so the FO has a choice to make here (update: we're fielding offers for Hyde).

Tight Ends:
TE: George Kittle - NG. Cole Hikutini - NG.
Need: I couldn't find his current PFF grade here but he had a monster game last game and above average in run blocking. As a rookie he's had 3 huge drops but he's also played through 3 injuries too. If he finds consistency, look out. If nothing else, he'd be an excellent #2. Now it's time to see what Cole can do.

XWR: Marquise Goodwin - #49 PFF grade at 72.4 (Torrey Smith #98 at 44.2)
YWR: Trent Taylor - #90 PFF grade at 46.2
ZWR: Pierre Garcon - #5 PFF at 83.2
Need: After the early dropsies Goodwin has started to come on the last two games. Every team needs a #3 deep threat. Garcon has the conditioning to play this effective for 3 more years but he's best served for a #2 role. With Taylor an effective returner and shifty slot WR, we might be looking at a premier ZWR next off season to compliment Garcon.

Offensive Line:
LOT: Joe Staley - #17 PFF at 77.5
LG: Laken Tomlinson - #63 PFF grade at 38.3
C: Daniel Kilgore - #32 PFF grade at 38.9
RG: None
ROT: Trenton Brown - #8 PFF grade at 81.0
Need: There is no question we need to start grooming a T behind Staley but the real work will be in FA trying to massively improve all 3 interior spots. Those guys stink!

DEFENSE:

Base/Nickel DL:
LDE/BE: Arik Armstead - #38 ER PFF grade at 78.2. Tank Carradine - #39 PFF at 79.9
NT: D.J. Jones - #78 PFF grade at 71.4
RDT: DeForest Buckner - a beast
LEO: Solomon Thomas - #90 PFF grade at 49.0
NER: Aaron Lynch - #44 PFF grade at 75.9
Need: Tank is a premier 6T and needs to be resigned, Buckner needs to man the 1T with Thomas full time at 3T (think Stubblefield + B.Young). Jones adds short yardage depth and Armstead adds interior depth at pass rush. This FO will be searching long and hard for a true LEO coupled with current depth in Dumervil/Lynch to work with. We need a consistent edge rush coming on every down to couple with premier inside talent and depth.

Linebackers:
SAM: Eli Harold - #62 PFF grade at 45.5
MIKE: Reuben Foster - he's coming back soon
WILL: Ray-Ray Armstrong - #2 PFF grade again right behind Buckner at 83.7 two weeks in a row. Overall #52 at 49.9
Need: Bowman's days are numbered (correction: released) so we'll need a dynamic WILL with Foster sliding over to MIKE (confirmed). Malcolm Smith will be returning next year but we could use another dynamic WILL and an excellent pass rushing SAM that can play every down opposite the LEO.

RCB: Dontae Johnson; Ahkello Witherspoon - #100 per PFF at 40.8. Same scheme issues as Robinson (see below)
S/CB: K'Waun Williams - up and down, NG
LCB: Rashard Robinson - #97 per PFF at 42.3. He was PFF's #1 rookie coming into the season at 13.2 coverage snaps per reception. Saleh's off coverage scheme and trail technique has eff'd his game up IMHO
FS: Jimmie Ward - #74 PFF FS at 41.5
SS: Jaquiski Tartt - #4 PFF SS at 88.9. Eric Reid - #30 PFF at 77.4
Need: At S, the FO has to decide if Reid is the future. Saleh would like both Tartt and Reid as one would be the dime SS/LB. These upcoming games with Witherspoon and consistency of Robinson will go a long ways in helping set our off season moves in motion. I think off coverage and trail techniques have turned RR's talent upside down. An upgrade over Johnson is a must unless Saleh moves to jam press but he's best served as a backup as it stands. Ward will have to grow more and more if he wants to lock down the most critical position in the secondary.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Specialists:
LS: Kyle Nelson - Perfection
PK: Robbie Gould - 100% at 14 for 14
P: Bradley Pinion - #2 on PFF and 3rd in punts inside the 20
KOR: Victor Bolden Jr. - 242 yards = 3rd
PR: Trent Taylor - 3rd in Avg with 10+ returns
GR: Adrian Colbert & Raheem Mostert - two of the best in the league (PFF)
Need: Outside of PK, we could be set at ST for the next 5-10 years.

Not that a lot if it wasn't already known but it's good to see where the future is today and what we need to acquire in the off season.
