This type of media event demonstrates transparency, forward thinking, boldness and common sense. Maybe I'm ignorant and just haven't paid attention to things like this with other football teams, but I can't recall an NFL team holding a "town hall-style" media event with the franchise's braintrust/coaching staff and fans or just the "common folk" in attendance. Of course I don't really follow other teams that much either. Sounds kind of similar to when Goodell has the 'state of the league' address during SB week (except just reverse the letters SB). Other teams could benefit from doing the same thing (ahem, Browns, Jags, Bears) but I'm gad the Niners beat them to it.
P.S. also shows the same pageness of this FO. I wonder who initially suggested the idea. Thinking it was the GM but doesn't really matter. I guarantee whoever thought of it didn't make some executive decision. The 49er hierarchy is working like a charm, so far.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Mike Singletary's infamous "Physical with an F" was dubbed at a 'State of the Team" event such as this one.

Yeah but I think it was just him talking and really no one else. This "state of the franchise" press conference tomorrow involves the CEO, GM, HC and team president along with a few team leaders (Staley, Bowman and Hoyer were mentioned). It's gonna be a town hall kind of discussion event with Niner fans participating, if I'm understanding correctly.

I wonder what the chances are that we sign Byrd. Reports are that we're working him out. Anyone think we'd seriously consider signing him?

I imagine they wouldnt work him out if it wasnt at least a real possibility.

Bigtime.. we needed this change in the worst way.. very excited moving forward
Lynch seemed to have intensity and passion to prove his worth as a GM to lead this team back to the top.

You just don't see that out of Baalke. He lack that passion when I hear him go through his presser

You might just be responding to Lynch having a lot of media training, and Baalke generally being a gruff personality.

Pressers are Lynch in his element and Baalke out of his element, whatever that was.

How's the Pats GM passion sound to you
Yet he's won more games then most anyone else
Lynch does a good presser.

But that is not his job.

His job is to make the 49ers a successful franchise.

Ability in front of a mike is not part of the job specification.

But not the most important part of the job.

Not even in the top 10.

You can do a good presser and sound fantastic but not have a clue about being a GM

or sound like Billy Goat gruff with the media, and be the best GM in any sport in the country.

For him its a top 10. Its part of the reason he was hired. To be the face of the team. Why do you think he has done more interviews in the last 5 months then Baalke did in the 6 years he was GM.
