Originally posted by communist:The Patriots can afford to do that due to their strong credibility, i.e. one of the best coaches of all time and one of the best QBs of all time that leads to a very high probability for winning the SB.Originally posted by Willisfn4life:Patriots seem to make it work. Even if your a star and not named Tom Brady your susceptible to being traded or let go. I think more than anything, Lynch and co. want the message to get across that good players on the field and those that stay clean off it once their 49ers will have a job with the team. Those that do not, will be let go.Originally posted by thl408:Anyone worried about the cut throat attitude that Lynch/Shanahan have about players? "We are always looking to improve every position". While this is obvious of every GM/front office, outright admittance that every player can be on the trading block might contribute to a lack of loyalty from player to team. The coaches can show that they care about the player on a personal level, but how can the player feel like part of the family if they know they are always in danger of being moved?
"Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure. Only the paranoid survive." Making players paranoid all the time will make them hustle all the time, which is great for the football team. But I can't imagine it being good for the family atmosphere that Lynch is trying to foster. I guess the logic is if the player is good and is dedicated, they have nothing to worry about. For everyone else, don't get comfortable.
We, however, are a team at the bottom of the league.

Under Baalke, sunshine and rainbows went away quickly while running a SB caliber team. Then it only took 1 year for Baalke to make it worse after two consecutive new coaches. Baalke ran us into the ground but I am happy we didn't make moves last year.
Absolute TRUTH!![]()

Good riddance to that F'in scumbag.
Baalke milked the 49ers for as long as he could..used people..created patsies...until he ran out of real estate and the fraud was exposed

Agree
He also skillfully deflected his incompetence on others.
Paartag was a villain in the Zone and especially thru the article by Peter King - he has been shown to be an integral part of the organization.
Parcells seems to be a control-freaking a*****e.Originally posted by dtg_9er:So many over the years! LOL! Lynch seems to be a very bright, highly competitive, guy who is confident enough to allow others credit. So far he is a breath of fresh air to the hardworking, but erasable Baalke. Time will tell if he is a successful GM but I am enjoying the lack of drama and discord so far.
When Joe Thomas came in to take over the niners he was the only voice. Head coaches didn't even say much because they knew he wouldn't like it. That was in the bad days...worst days. Just read a comparison between Walsh and Parcells that said Walsh encouraged his assistant coaches to be available to the media, but Parcells had a rule against it. Lynch seems to be from the Walsh camp thus far. Baalke was a Parcells guy.
I'm OK with the philosophy but there is a significant difference between us and the patriots. that's what I tried to say.Originally posted by LifelongNiner:How do you think you get to be that way? Should we wait until we are winning before adopting that philosophy?

Originally posted by thl408:Good thoughts, guys. I find it surprising they'll make a player being on the block public knowledge. The family/brotherhood thing is more so between players anyways. The HC/GM should be somewhat feared as the bosses.
