Filled some holes on defense while also acquiring extra picks, well done. But now get some playmakers on offense, please and thank you.

you still need a corner and a safety in my opinion and another linebacker would not hut

No no no, the old Baalke Brigade argued until they were blue in the face about how solid his DB picks were, they had the PFF grades to "prove" it.

Seriously of course they need secondary help, but FFS thanks to the aforementioned moron Baalke this team of ZERO playmakers struggles to gain 300 yds and score 20 points...D is a work in progress but has been improved, now some attention needs to be paid to the offense.

I'm excited to see what Lynch has up his sleeve for the 2nd round...

Zay Jones???

How anyone can think we are solid with those crap FA signings on offense is staggering.

This will be his true test. Even Baalke didn't f**k up getting Buckner. The offense selections will prove his worth.

Of course I want a hard-hitting, ball-hawking, QB-killing defense...but in today's NFL you have to at least be mildly competent on offense and the Niners aren't even at that level. Liking what we've seen so far from Lynch, I'm betting he does get a few toys for Shanahan.

Trying to track down the teams that might have competed with Bears for the second pick and have not found one--Jets never called 49ers

If they conjured this trade out of thin air, I am not sure if I will be in awe or worried...on one hand holy s**t, on the other if word gets out that you lied?

From what I've heard over the years, yes getting caught BS'ing another team in that kind of way is frowned upon heavily and can have a negative impact down the road in making other deals, with agents, etc.

But I have a hard time believing that a guy who seems to be a straight shooter like Lynch would scam a team like that, especially on the first deal of his first draft.

I read somewhere that it was the Bears who panicked themselves. They got phone calls from other teams about their pick and reasoned that these teams must also have phoned the Niners. Personally I don't care what Lombardi thinks.

Well done @49ers. D always starts up front!

Along the lines of what I was thinking, that if Bears called Lynch and he let them believe what they already thought to be true, that's not the same as just flat-out lying to someone.

And not that he's supposed to be a choirboy with all of his cards on the table anyway, all these teams know there's "trade craft" at play...I'm sure the Bears are fine with what went down and know Lynch/49ers didn't outright lie to them.

It is starting to look like Lynch is the face of the franchise.

Shanahan seems to take a back seat to him w/public and press.

Is this good, bad or not matter?

I love it...you could see Kyle perk up when talking about Trubisky but this draft was all about BPA and defense and that so happens to be Lynch's area of expertise. Once the offensive players come down the pike, Kyle will perk up again and take more lead.

I think you can count on them getting a RB that fits Shanahan's scheme well, a QB and a WR somewhere with the remaining picks, it won't just be an all defense draft.

If they snagged Nathan Peterman, Kareem Hunt and Carlos Henderson I'd be pretty content.

No question. Lots of talent in the 2nd - 4th rounds, and a few leaking into the 5th.

You'll have to excuse me if I'm not brimming with excited confidence that guys like Hoyer, Barkley, Garcon, Hightower et al will be lighting s**t on fire. Decent players but just hoping to get some guys you say "WOW" watching them go after a ball or once it's in their hands...haven't had that here for a while. Hyde to me seems close but not quite.

This is my dream scenario going forward. They still need o-linemen but can grab Jessamen Dunker, Julie'n Davenport, Corey Levin, and Jylan Ware later

Edit - throw in Elijah Qualls or Stevie Tu'ikolovatu at NT as well
