If Bosa doesn't play against LA—and it doesn't look like he will—the 49ers will have none of this regime's first-round picks on the field. That's so crazy.

The Rams will only have one. Jared Verse. The went 7 seasons without 1st rounder because they kept trading back every year or traded them away for players.

What's the point of bringing up the Rams if you just explained why they won't have any first-rounders? The Rams will only have one because they've traded away their picks, not because they're hurt or missed picks like the 49ers.

That being said, the Rams have a better roster despite not having those first-round picks. The 49ers have a worse roster AND aren't getting any production from their first-rounders. Those are two completely different things.

i don't view rams as the better roster, stafford, adams, donald, these guys are all ancient and not far for MG, also puka appears to have completely lost his brain cells he may be suspended in a contract year, we beat these guys with mac jones, they had the mvp of the league we had mac and won. they are getting way overhyped and full of themselves

The only position group the 49ers are better than the Rams is at LB. Rams have them beat at every single other group.

People are sleeping on their DB moves. Everyone is focused on the DL and rightfully so, but they also added Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson...YIKES. That defense is f**king loaded.

Rams are so much better that its 4-4 head to head over the last 4 years?

Okay.

Rams and Hawks biggest advantage over 9ers is the secondary. What will be sold as the 9ers d line not doing enough is really the secondary not covering well.

Rams realized corner was their biggest weakness and addressed it. 9ers didnt even try at safety.

not necessarily unless you are doing funny math. rams are better at TE? rams are better at RB? they have two very good backs we have a great one. we have trent williams. i don't even give rams WR if puka is gonna blow his opportunities and get suspended. we have mike evans who is absurdly gifted. put cmc on the field with trent, with big mike, with kittle, that's nuts. i look forward to our offense vs their defense i think we get the better of it cuz brock can effectively derail their pass rush by making smart decisions with the football and getting it out quick. frankly i think we are better at QB, last year is over and stafford won't be as effective, rams even know this it's why they burnt their round 1 on a QB

I didn't say starters. I specifically said group. Yes, their TE and RB room are better than the 49ers Lol. Is this really a question? The 49ers TE room is LITERALLY 1 guy. The Rams go 4 deep with Parkinson, Allen, Higbee and Ferguson. CMC is 1 guy with unproven bodies. Rams hit you with a legit 1-2 punch of Williams and Corum.

That's literally the gaping chasm between the 49ers and Rams. The Rams have stars AND depth. The 49ers have stars to go toe-to-toe with them, but if those stars are hurt, they're f**ked because their depth is pathetic.Their DL group is insane. AD and Garrett could go down

and the Rams would still have a better pass rush than the 49ers with Turner, Young, and Fiske.

Their Safeties are also better. Give me Kam Kinchens over Brown any day.

im taking a te room 10 days out of 10 with kittle over ferguson, klare, parkinson, davis allen. do we care that their TE3 is > than ours? maybe we do marginally. but kittle being far better than their TE1 has the position decidedly in our favor. same with a RB room with christian. now i kinda like their ability to replace one back with another in the event of injury, we would be much worse off. but i view it as would i trade our RB room for theirs? hard for me to say i would when we have a mvp level back who can break down corners like witherspoon in space out of the backfield. rams don't have that. imagine mcvay with cmc

Your exhibit A of late round players is anticdotal.

End of the day, with the cap, we do have to draft better no doubt about it. I think the idea here is to not f**k up contract extensions so often and utilize your draft capital and roster players to trade/sign for players.

It was meant to be anecdotal to push the point. I could've brought up much less extreme(likely HOF) examples.

The main point is having successful drafts is the best way to build a roster. This regime for all its faults does have a good track record overall.

Bosa, Warner, Kittle - all HOF level players

Purdy, Greenlaw, Lenoir, Hufanga, Deebo, Puni, McKivitz, Jennings, DJ Jones - all really good players drafted outside the first round.

I still believe by far our biggest problem was Trey Lance. We took a shot with minimal info given the covid season and really blew it. Thankfully landing Purdy in the 7th helped easy that f up but it cost us a lot of depth pieces that could've been added.

Also our philosophy in 2022 and 2023 was terrible and they admitted to it. Going into those drafts thinking we don't have a lot of holes caused us to make some really poor choices. Ironically they're the same drafts that helped the Rams rebuild their roster. We have 1 starter from the 2023 class and it's a guy we're all afraid to see on the field. Meanwhile Rams have 5 starters from the same class. One of them is a top 5 player at his position in Puka. 2 are excellent players for their DL(one of whom was drafted the pick after we selected Ji'Ayir Brown) we drafted Robert Beal 4 picks ahead of Puka. Very frustrating...

Agree, and I'll add, just my opinion but when Adam Peter's left in 2023, I just feel ShanaLynch's first round picks have been better than when Peters was here. Looking at Adam's record with the Washington Commanders, he's not really had a good impact so far. The year before he arrived in Washington they were 4-13, Adam comes in in 2024 and they go 12-5 getting Deebo and Kinlaw, and then 2025, Washington is back at 5-12. Whereas in a 49ers rebuilding year of 2025 (after a disastrous 2024; 6 and 11 win season) ShanaLynch go against all odds into the playoffs with a 12-5 record after pretty much playing a lot of rookies and 2nd year players after losing a lot of their star players to injury and free agency.

I think because of a strong 2025 season (maybe luck, maybe good talent evaluation) if this trend continues - I look for the 2026 draft class to be as good as the 2025 draft class and solidify that playoff potential spot and if any of the last two draft classes generate a hall of fame level player - (Romello Height, Stribling - hope hope) we could be looking at a remake of the legendary 1986 draft.

Huh? The 2025 draft class looks horrendous. Upton Stout is the only player from the class who might make an impact. Collins and West looked awful in the preseason at the one thing they're supposed to be good at; Mykel is recovering from a serious injury and likely won't do anything this year; Nick Martin doesn't look to be any better than last year and is at the bottom of the depth chart; nobody from the day 3 picks looks to be anything more than a role player/back up.

We better pray that the 2026 class is nothing like the 2025 class, or this team is royally screwed because the 25 draft is starting to look like another catastrophic failure.

I thought Mykel, when he was healthy played fine as a rookie DE in the Saleh scheme. Alfred and CJ West didn't look outclassed as they played as *rookies* last year. In addition to Stout, Colby was plugged into that OLine and played ok *as a rookie.* Kurtis Rourk looks good as a backup QB and hopefully Mac is traded for some day one or day two draft capital. Dominic Puni (draft class of 2024) was a plug and play player and did well until injuries. Same with Ricky Pearsall until injuries. With Raheem I hope Green, Sigle, and Prysock will develop. I saw less pass interreference penalties in this preseason, than in previous preseasons - in my opinion. That's a big plus with Raheem and his DB coaching background.

The problem with the last two draft classes is the fact that we switched out Defensive coordinators every season. Wilks ('23); Sorensen ('24); Saleh ('25); Raheem ('26). There is no defensive coaching stability there. A lot of these players, I think, would develop faster if we had stability at the defensive coordinator coaching position. I've always hated the Wide 9 as a base defense. It's like spotting the opposing team a touchdown even before you play the game. At least with Raheem, the defense should be more unpredictable.

This is one place I agree with 100%. Although I am a little higher on Collins than you. I think we will get some late season help from him.

One reason ShanaLynch misfires in their first round picks may be them picking almost dead last every year since they make the playoffs almost every year.

There really is no difference - in my book - between the 25th pick of the first round (for example) and the whole entire 2nd round itself - from a general talent perspective. Blue chip players like a Trent, Bosa, or McCaffrey are usually gone before the 10th pick in the first round.

ShanaLynch have to hit in the later rounds simply because - by their general win/loss records - they really dont have a first round pick by what most folks generally consider a *real* first round pick.
