Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

The draft isn't good, but it'll be offset with the moves they made during free agency(ie Evans, Greenlaw, Osa trade, etc) as well as good coaching and be extremely competitive next season.

I just don't know how much longer they can keep doing this. Eventually, the pillars of the team(Fred, Kittle, CMC, Trent,) will be too damn old to keep carrying them.

I agree. The o line will hold this team back, yet again.

This is of course assuming A healthy season and what are the chances that happens?

A couple ways to view this
1. I think it's hard to dispute that we got poor value out of our draft picks.

2. but that doesn't mean it's a bad draft overall, as long as the players become contributors.

only time will tell the second part. I think it's safe to say that some of the guys we drafted are def going PS, At least IMO.

Purdy went 262. According to Arif Hasan's consensus board, purdy was 290 overall, 324 among forecasters, 287 among evaluators, 165 on PFF, no rank on The Beast top 300 (Brugler).
