The Eagles offered him in package to the Cowboys for Micah Parsons.

the eagles clearly don't want to pay this guy. I'd stay away I were the 49ers.

If Carter goes to the Seahawks I better not see ANY crying on here from the people saying we shouldn't trade for him.

Get a ton of picks and rebuild younger and faster.

The talent and age gaps too wide between the hawks and rams.

Half this board: stop trading for people you f**kin' idiots!!!

The other half: start trading for people you f**kin' idiots!!!

Yeah because half the posters are in denial thinking we are a piece or two and a healthy season away from being right there in the mix with Seattle and the rams.

This is true to a degree but you have to look at if from a realistic perspective.

They are slightly more talented but wayyyyy younger. So realistically even if you add a piece or two and pull it back to even one of our vets will get hurt and we will be behind again.

The only way to compete is going to be to get way younger. Ie were in purgatory where you might as well start tearing off the old garb and get what you can before they are worth nothing.

I'm sorry it's going to have to be bye bye Trent, bye bye mcaffrey, bye bye juice, bye bye jennings then entertaining offers for bosa, kittle, and warner.

The only untouchable should be purdy at this point...

I sure as hell wouldn't. There's a reason he's available for a second offseason in a row.

Nice guys>all-pros=no championships for the foreseeable future. I've come to terms with it.

Good post. Lynch and Shanahan should be looking to the future and getting younger and faster. This team as currently constructed can't hang with the hawks or rams

I said all of this in November. Lynch two options, all in or all out. But you're wrong. The 49ers easily have the talent to compete for a Super Bowl.

Crazy guys are usually traded for day 3 picks right? Especially with a contract due soon. Given our history with guys in their final years I would be cautious on this one.

Uh, we were 10 points away from being the 1 seed in the nfc. You're also just throwing a blanket on the age thing. Seahawks are approximately .7 years younger than the niners. If you're going on age alone, they're older at QB, older at DT, older at WR, and so on.

I DO agree that we need to build through draft and supplement via FA/trades (as your vaunted Seahawks and rams did!)

NFL is the strangest league of the pro sports year to year. Teams come out of nowhere every year, competitors in week 1 disappears every year. Nothing would much surprise me in the NFL.

How was Crosbyh a botch? They got outbid . No way they could have matched or exceeded that offer.

Right, the Ravens had the 14th pick, we have the 27th, we'd had to have given up either another future 1st, or our 2nd rd pick & something else to make up for the draft position difference.

I agree we need to draft better, but to get rid of guys like CMC, Warner, Kittle, Bosa would be highly dumb and hurt the 2026 cap, they lose over $44.629M in cap room by trading or cutting them pre June 1, and the only players that they can restructure would be Trent($16.728M max savings) & Brock($5,664,800 max savings) and the only players we can cut to save any real cap room are Huff($5.392M), Brendel($2.967M), and Winters & Brown($3.674M each), which would leave the 49ers with $32.188M in cap space room with huge holes at RB, TE, EDGE, & ILB, especially when they have serious needs elsewhere, plus by doing this it signals that the 49ers aren't serious about competing at all, then why would anyone come here?
Dont do something stupid and trade the future away for one player who is not a franchise changing player. Carter is a very very good player, but he is not a franchise changing player.

Yeah, but who is really trading away a franchise changing player for anything other than a king's ransom in picks? Carter is only 24 and he could definitely change the fortune of this D line IMO.
