How was Crosbyh a botch? They got outbid . No way they could have matched or exceeded that offer.
Right, the Ravens had the 14th pick, we have the 27th, we'd had to have given up either another future 1st, or our 2nd rd pick & something else to make up for the draft position difference.

This is true to a degree but you have to look at if from a realistic perspective.
They are slightly more talented but wayyyyy younger. So realistically even if you add a piece or two and pull it back to even one of our vets will get hurt and we will be behind again.
The only way to compete is going to be to get way younger. Ie were in purgatory where you might as well start tearing off the old garb and get what you can before they are worth nothing.
I'm sorry it's going to have to be bye bye Trent, bye bye mcaffrey, bye bye juice, bye bye jennings then entertaining offers for bosa, kittle, and warner.
The only untouchable should be purdy at this point...
Uh, we were 10 points away from being the 1 seed in the nfc. You're also just throwing a blanket on the age thing. Seahawks are approximately .7 years younger than the niners. If you're going on age alone, they're older at QB, older at DT, older at WR, and so on.
I DO agree that we need to build through draft and supplement via FA/trades (as your vaunted Seahawks and rams did!)
NFL is the strangest league of the pro sports year to year. Teams come out of nowhere every year, competitors in week 1 disappears every year. Nothing would much surprise me in the NFL.
I agree we need to draft better, but to get rid of guys like CMC, Warner, Kittle, Bosa would be highly dumb and hurt the 2026 cap, they lose over $44.629M in cap room by trading or cutting them pre June 1, and the only players that they can restructure would be Trent($16.728M max savings) & Brock($5,664,800 max savings) and the only players we can cut to save any real cap room are Huff($5.392M), Brendel($2.967M), and Winters & Brown($3.674M each), which would leave the 49ers with $32.188M in cap space room with huge holes at RB, TE, EDGE, & ILB, especially when they have serious needs elsewhere, plus by doing this it signals that the 49ers aren't serious about competing at all, then why would anyone come here?
