I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't make any moves and wouldn't be angry as well.

Several dynamics. I think people forget the Jed York factor. Jed isn't wanting to spend big money on the team right now on multiple high end contracts. The direction is younger and cheaper. Thus Lynch has to operate within a budget and IF the 49ers make a move, it will be for someone with at least 2 years left on their contract, are affordable and who will not only plug a hole this year, but can contribute again next year. So no Hendrickson as he is way too much money to keep beyond this rental year. I think the Niners will play with what they have, make perhaps one or two acquisitions IF they fit per above and then look forward to each game and see where they are at by the end of the season and their year. So far they are better than last year despite all the injuries and that is a win. Credit to Lynch and Shanahan for doing what they are doing with the constraints they face and are under.

Exactly....great post. Younger and cheaper, while hard to hear for many posters, is the correct approach for the team to take currently.

Yeah, I don't really think they should. They need all the picks they have as this team still needs a major OL and secondary shakeup. I hope they go heavy into those positions in the draft.

Yeah the 49ers have been such a good drafting team, that all these injuries don't hurt as much since we are such a deep team... No reason to make trades now.
He made his move. Now he can say he's "checking" but it didn't work out

"We were very aggressive in our pursuit for Trey Hendrickson. Really, we were! We offered about as much as the Rams/Seahawks did! Just don't know why the Bengals didn't accept…"
I'm a big Lynch defender, but today was certainly a choice.

It's not like nobody was available. Cam Jordan, Granderson, Jermaine Johnson, Will McDonald, Arden Key, Bradley Chubb were all sitting there…

Better hope Huff comes back ASAP and is the best edge rusher ever when he does.
Fire lynch now before he f**ks up another draft

We knew coming into this season that Yorks wanted to get cheaper. You don't cheaper by giving away premium draft picks.

This was always going be a transitional year.

I agree with it. I would actually like to see them extend Huff.
Thank you Lynch for not mortgaging our future for this injury plagued team.

It's like people are completely oblivious to what's right in front of them.

Hendrickson is staying a Bengal...you must be confusing this FO with the SF Giants FO who say this about every FA who passed them up.

Hendrickson was never on 49ers radar. Its just wishful thinking some fans made up. They kept saying how they want to stay young, cheap and focus on draft picks. Trading for Hendrickson goes against every single thing theyve said so far this year. Hes old, hed be a rental, hed want a new contract, and you would have to give up draft picks.

They cut Maliek Collins and Leonard Floyd for no reason other than to shed some salary cap numbers. Writing was on the wall before the season started. Even knowing the schedule is favorable, the FO was telling you from day one that they dont really think they are a SB contender.
