I felt this way after Bosa tbh. I felt we would still be playoff caliber, but not championship. Without Warner... no freaking way. I would trade whoever (Jennings comes to mind atm) and get more picks while playing the rookies and young guys more to develop them and see what we have.

I would also be far more patient/cautious with Purdy and BA.

I'm so torn on what i want this team to do between trading for some help or just letting the young guys get experience and only trading if its a long term solution.

On one hand there is no dominate team in the NFL. Every team has its flaws so why not just go for it and see what happens? We are talented enough to win 4 games with a depleted core and hopefully get some players back soon.

Then on the other hand its like yeah we are getting reinforcements but who else is going to get injured next?

Call the Saints, offer them a 6th round pick (the better between ours and the Vikings', we already traded the worse one to the Commanders for Robinson) for Demario Davis + Cam Jordan.

Saints get $2.5M in cap relief and a 6th rounder for what was probably going to be a 7th for each player. We get half a season from former All-Pros for virtually no cap space to give a veteran presence to all our young guys on defense and tell the team "we're not giving up, we're still going to try to make something out of this season."

If the Saints say no, so be it, keep all of our picks and just keep letting it ride. But I wouldn't hate the above trade for the right price (anything higher than a 5th is way too much though).

Meh I'm still making some moves. Warner was the heart of the team, but winters has shown he's a good young LBer. Gotta see what Martin can do, top 100 pick for a reason.

I think the idea of trading for a player that's gonna be here past this season makes even more sense. a band-aid type guy is doesn't really work, unless it's for next to nothing and no real cash tied to it.

I agree about not getting a rental. Before the game there were rumors we were checking on Hendrickson etc. My thinking was sure, if they can somehow extend him (probably not realistic). As I said earlier I would love to be wrong, but with this o-line and all the injuries I cant see us winning it all. They should think who is definitely on the roster the next year or two and based on that, trade away guys they do not imagine having in that scenario. We still have a great core so try to reload around it etc.
Do they still want Aiyuk ?

Agree. At this point the guy who fits that scenario would be Thibodeaux. Whether the financials would work going fwd, who knows

Okay let's pretend they do.

You really want to eat $30M+ in dead cap? For maybe a 3rd or something? Come on.
With Warner down, for me there is no point in paying out big bucks or high draft picks to replace Bosa. You can't lose two players of that calibre and still go all the way. I would blood the youngsters and if we can pick up good depth for peanuts, fine.

Sounds like everyone here is ready to trade JJ
You can't ignore offensive line for 9 years in a row. Then cross your fingers and hope for the best. In addition to a coverage Safety. They got ones who can come up and tackle. But need coverage. Just big downfalls on this team that never get fixed. They deal with other areas. But almost never those ones. Just don't think you can win like that. Especially offensive line. It's negligence at this point. It's unacceptable how much they ignore it.

It sounds bad to eat dead cap but he'll never be elite and paying him $41.4 & $42.3 mil for a couple of years is crazy.

So, yeah.

Pearsal, Robinson, Bourne, Valdes-Scantling, and may Jennings doesn't look too bad in conjunction with Kittle and Tonges.

I'm concerned we haven't seen much on his rehab or when he could even practice. If other teams at least know he's doing well then at least they could kick the tires.

I agree. My old man doesn't have much time left. Trade for Hendrickson and bring back Dre Greenlaw.
You forgot to switch accounts.

Hahaha

Titans just fired Callahan. Quick trade for Jeffrey Simmons!!

((lol jk. Kind of. Sort of. Maybe.))
