1. Developing Brock with the young offensive talent;
2. Developing the young defense under Salah.
The last two drafts have produced a lot of potential. You throw in Dee Winters and Kalia Davis, both of whom seem to be stepping up (especially Dee), this year is all about improving and transitioning from the team's old veterans to a new young core. We need to do what the Rams and Eagles have done moving off of guys like Cox and Donald. We need to get younger, faster, stronger, and healthier.
For me, the next three weeks are huge. If this team competes and wins against the Rams/Bucs, then I stay in the fight. However, if they go 1-2 or 0-3 I start to consider moving the teams most valuable trade assets, e.g. Warner and McCaffrey. I love Warner. I want him to be a niner for life. But he could fetch a 1 or a combo of 2/3. McCaffrey would not land the same picks, but the team could still get a midround pick or two. Trent and McCaffrey have seemed to lost a step and Kittle and Bosa are hurt. It's time to build for the future. Do it while Salah is still the coach.
Remember what Bill Walsh said: It's better to get rid of a player a year early versus a year late.
I'll add on that I see Kawakami proposing to trade for Hendrickson by giving up a 1/3 in 2026 and a 2 in 2027. I just can't in good conscious make this bold of a move. It's too risky.
As someone who is pounding the table for Hendrickson… I agree that is absolutely absurd. Are we keeping Hendrickson for at least 3-4 years in this scenario or at least playing tag with him? Because a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for a rental is colossally stupid.
I was thinking just our 2026 2nd for Hendrickson. Even that's a ton for a half-season rental. Not a 1st along with it too that's ridiculous lol

Bengals might not be ready to give up on their season when they're 2-1. Burrow might still be back this season.

Maybe the Bengals will be in sell mode because of Burrow's injury? They wont ant to have to pay him so we can get a year rental for a 2?

I'm ok with making a trade but can't do lower than a 3rd, unless there's a scenario where he plays 60%+ and signs an extension for at least 2 years.
Otherwise this team needs our draft capital to sign new future stars to both the Oline and maybe Dline if Bosas future is in doubt.
Bosa has 3 more years on his contract with a potential cut year in 2027. So we have 2026 to evaluate his health. I love the guys hustle and willingness to help on the run, but I'm concerned if he loses a speed rush and is strictly a bull rusher.

We are gonna have to wait closer to the deadline then.

Trade deadline (when most teams will have played 9 games) is key.
Bengals will be lucky to have Burrow back the last three regular season games. If the Bengals are 4-5 or worse at the trade deadline they'll at least listen. Really depends if that Vikings/Bengals game was an anomaly or a sign of how they'll look until late-December.

Exactly. That makes way more sense than trading a 1st and a 2nd and a 3rd.

None of this is realistic, did you see what Parsons just signed and what Bosa is making? The market is what it is, and we are not spending money this year hence the dead cap situation. Hendrickson would require a first round pick IMO, and next year we would have our 1st round rookie DE, Bosa, and Hendrickson so what happens then? Too expensive to be rotational guys.
I think we should just roll with what we have, we are not a super bowl contender this season. Does Robinson take Bosa's spot on the roster now that his suspension is over with?? If so, who do we cut to make room for another DE?

I don't think the Bengals would be interested in a Hendrickson trade right now and why should they? They are 2-1 and just need to stay afloat until December when Burrow could possibly be back. Maybe by the trade deadline they might bite depending on their record and Burrow's outlook but I just don't see it right now. He's in a situation where he'd be a one year rental for sure but then again those 1 year rentals haven't worked out for us to great in the past.
IMO we need a one trick pony speed rusher.

I heard this morning on KNBR that it may indeed change next year if they go out and make a trade. In any case they don't have a lot of room to make a deal if it impacts next season when several salaries are set to rise. Current projections are about $17 million in cap space in 2026 but that can disappear in the blink of an eye with the way players and agents are demanding crazy renegotiations.

They $50+ in space right now (someone mentioned additional 7.7 added on yesterday) that will be rolled over to next year on top of that. 17. They are fine.

We have that with Huff, we also have the opposite of that with Williams.

We also apparently save another $7M in 2026 space because of Bosa's injury. So that alone could probably account for any move we make at the deadline.
