Why this thread dead? Lynch almost destroyed our future by trading the farm for Lance, the last two drafts went down the toilet. Moody even was a third rounder...

I have him on my IDP fantasy football league. Always draft late round defensive sleepers on bad offensive teams.

Uh, why does he have to go ASAP? Everything looks like the 2024 & 2025 drafts were good drafts, I still don't understand the hate for Lynch, would you rather have Ballard from INDY? Colts fans hate him/wanted him fired, be happy we have a good GM unlike the majority of the league, and if you're one of those "Go Sign this guy to big FA deal" then you have issues cause none of those deals end up working out.

Whats wrong with the last 2 drafts?

Yes he swung and missed on Lance. Horrible trade after looking through the 20/20 hindsight lens. But at the same time he built a good enough roster to absorb that trade and still got us to the Super Bowl afterwards. I don't get the Lynch hate. Show me 1 GM in the game that hasn't had a colossal mistake. The good ones are able to recover, the bad ones don't and eventually get fired.

31 other teams passed on Nacua through the first five rounds as well, but it's Lynch and Shanahan who screwed up even though they already had Deebo, Aiyuk and Jennings on the roster with no immediate need for a wide receiver. Not saying they haven't had their share of missteps but ya gotta love how people will go back and cherry pick a player that no one really saw coming and offer that up as proof that the front office is incompetent.

This year's draft looks like it could have been a pretty good one, and the Niners have shown a real eye for talent in the later rounds since Lynch and Shanahan arrived. It's a shame their early round picks have been less impactful. I'm not one to say, "oh, they should have picked this guy or that guy instead", but in retrospect it sure would have been nice to have gotten Tristan Wirfs over Kinlaw, which was a widely discussed option at the time. To my mind that's a bigger miss in the first round than Puka Nacua was in the fifth.

What an idiotic post. We are the best team in the league at drafting in the later rounds as well as undrafted free agents. Maybe some people are forgetting the last few drafts we've been picking in the late second and third round as our first picks. The probability goes way down

People mention the 2022 and 2023 draft classes as awful, and they were, but you bring up a very good point. The biggest reason those draft classes were awful is because of the Trey Lance and CMC trades. We had very, very weak draft capital in both 2022 and 2023 because of those trades.
