DT- Maliek Collins - Evan Anderson

S- Talanoa Hufunga - didn't play in 2025- Malik Mustapha

LB- Dre Greenlaw - didn't play in 2025 - High draft pick

RB- Elijah Mitchell - Didn't play in 2025 - Issac Guerendo

OT- Jaylon Moore - Backup in 2025
QB- Josh Dobbs - Backup in 2025

We don't lose much at all and saved about 300 million dollars of contracts. In fact, I think most of the replacements will have bigger impacts than the guys who left.

We have work to do on the Dline but there are 30-35 starting calibre defensive linemen in this draft. It's the deepest draft ever for linemen. And rookies can't be any worse than Floyd and Collins who were among the worst at their positions vs the run in the league

I've been saying this ad nauseam the past day or so. Losing Greenlaw hurts, but we all need to realize that he's often injured and when a backup comes in our team suffers. It's almost better sometimes to have a guy that's 70% as good as Greenlaw and plays every game or is durable. It sucks to say that, but if we had that in the Super Bowl, we win.

Spending so much money on often injured players like Greenlaw or Huf is not the smartest thing to do even though we love them as players.

Just get Blackmon at FS he will come cheap and hes good. (Or Simmons)

Tomlinson at DT will be cheap

If Ji'Aiyr Brown can clean up his missed tackles and take better angles he will be one of the better safeties in the game.

He's already very good in coverage, he just needs to clean up the run D a bit.

I don't think we are looking to replace him.
At DLine:

Bring Clelin Ferrell back and sign Levi Onwuzurike then draft an edge or DT in round 1 and 2 and a NT in round 4 or 5

DE-
Nick Bosa
Rookie (Rd 1)
Clelin Ferrell
Yetur Gross Matos
Sam Okuayinonu

DT-
Levi Onwuzurike
Rookie (Rd 2)
Kevin Givens
Khalia Davis
Jordan Elliot

NT-
Evan Anderson
Rookie (Rd 5)
Man I hope we make a move for a pass rusher. We need a good solid vet, even if we draft a guy at 11.

Ass. lol that is an ass defense.

Bosa and the bums. lol our offense better be high power if we are going to win games with that defense. We would essentially never be able to put the game on the defense and have the ball last. That d line isn't stopping anyone or getting to any decent qb.

Anyone else see the Mostert connection article?

Thoughts?

Wasn't he one of the ones bashing the Niners on the way out the door and even years later?

I'm not a big fan of resigning him but he does fit our scheme well and we miss that speed and one cut ability. We haven't had that same dynamic, with CMC out, that Mostert/breida/ healthy Elijah Moore.

Great response. We as fans need to be patient. Like kids complaining on Christmas morning that their whole day is ruined because the first one they opened was a pair of socks from grandma.
Wait and see what the draft brings us. I love these guys, Juice and Dre. I really wanted to see them win a championship as a Niner. But reality is we are shedding tons of bad salary and refreshing the roster with younger talent. As you pointed out, none of the leavers add much of an upgrade over their replacement. These are smart decisions.
Yes, we'll probably be .500 at best next year, but this needed to be done. The team was full of aging, expensive, oft-injured, stars. The likelihood of making a run for the SB this year was minimal - and it means zip where the game is held, I never understood this argument. That window closed two years ago. Last year might have been possible, but the injury stars had to align; they aligned the other way. That's how it goes.

Now, the best thing the team can do is to dump contracts, eat the dead money, draft and hopefully season in battle a bunch of youngsters, come back next year. I'm happy that we didn't bring in Bosa Sr or Allen or any of the other big names of the past. They don't fit this strategy. It's not a fun strategy, yes, but at least it's coherent: go cheap and young, try to speed up the rebuild.

Sorry, I used the "R" word. Pick your favourite alternative if you dislike it: retool, repurpose, redesign, restock, reload, redraw, reimagine. It won't be "retread" or "regurgitate", and hopefully it won't turn out to be "regress".
We're just gonna have to do it in the draft. We don't really need anything on offense except OL and a FB if we decide to keep one.

Defense needs the overhaul. But we started prepping last year. I wish we could've kept Dre but we couldn't take the risk of so much cash tied up in a guy who had back to back season ending injuries.

On D we need:
-Rangy ball hawk safety
-Bosa bookend + depth
-Two new hogs at DT
-Two starting caliber LB
-CB competition

With 11 picks + UDFAS we can certainly accomplish something close to that. I'm sure we're not totally done in free agency either.

Ultimately, yeah we've obviously got holes, but I'm patient here. Everyone we let walk or traded away was either overpaid, injury prone, or was starting to get exposed/have huge decline in performance. New blood with talent will extend our window and come in hungry.
I just don't understand why we are going all... "out".... not "in", when we have the bowl coming to Levi's
Sounds like we weren't really in the mix lol
