Feeling "meh" about Malcolm Smith. But we need depth players to round out the roster. It just depends on the contract.

Uh lol. Smith is a starter lmao.

Yikes.

People complaining about spending too much now? I can understand being upset about not spending anything like what Baalke did last year, but we should be happy that we finally have a front office that doesn't twiddle their thumps during FA and only sign some guy named Thad.
I was never a fan of huge FA activities.

It usually means you're not very good. And in this case, that's true.

Its been reported that Smith wil compete for a starting spot, not that its just being handed to him.

We need so many pieces. Smith is a good addition.

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer
The Eagles and Niners had some preliminary trade discussions about Connor Barwin, so San Francisco would make sense as one suitor.

This...the one thing we had going for us was a clean slate, it is allowing us to be super aggressive in free agency, which we need because there is just too much needed to reload through the draft alone, it would take years.

Barwin would be a nice piece...depending on the price.

Wouldn't mind just giving them Tramaine Brock and a late round pick.

Eagles released DE Connor Barwin.

The move saves $7.75 million against the cap, making this one a no-brainer. GM Howie Roseman tried to find a trade partner, but there was no way anyone was going to give up something and take on that contract when they knew the Eagles would dump him. Barwin was a really poor fit in DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 front as an end. Look for him to sign with a 3-4 team as an edge rusher.
If Baalke was our GM, he would have said this: "We don't want to rush into free agency. That's when prices are high."
