Come on John, close the deal!

Just got on a plane. What are we talking about?

EDIT: just saw the webzone article!

Not sure what was so impressive, in that Romo wants to go to:

1) a contender

2) somebody who has a good O line and can protect him.

Addendum: WASH ain't a contender.
Still, nice that lynch is thinking large here, getting 3 teams involved. Are we closer? With Romo's requirements, maybe further away. It does tell you something tho, when there has been talk about 3 rookie QBs, Hoyer, Schaub, and all others. Cousins was and is the guy all along. Our guys just keep mum about it. Somedody leaked to press re: Romo. Bets? Jerry Jones.

I think the leak is the Redskins hoping for someone to jump in and sweeten their deal. Everyone else would want this other then maybe Romo. Jerry would love to have that cap space.
Alshon Jeffries may be a smokescreen, but he may not be. More on this later

Haha I love how they say sources say they are interested in! Of course they are interested in every free agent. Haha

I was having a conversation about Lynch this afternoon. We were talking about all of the stuff he has been saying about numerous topics - basically being a GM right now - throwing up a lot of smokescreens that may or may not have any truth to them. One topic in particular was the obvious need for a QB. Lynch is saying he really likes the current group coming out - "Watson killed it," etc. We came to the conclusion he is trying to work Cleveland into believing they must draft a QB at #1 overall because if they don't, the 49ers will take one. The Jets and Bears may as well and when Cleveland comes up at #12 they will be picking through the leftovers. In the end, what Lynch really wants is Myles Garrett and is just playing the Browns.

Lynch seems to have learned how to play the media and the rest of the league like a veteran. He is doing a very good job keeping the competition from getting a read on what he really wants to do.
"Contacted by PFT's Mike Florio, "multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation scoffed" at NFL Network's report/rumor of a three-way trade sending Tony Romo to Washington, Kirk Cousins to San Francisco, and other compensation to Dallas.

One source called the rumor "conjecture," and Florio says Ian Rapoport effectively "made up" the story. Rapoport also reported Friday that Julio Jones was having foot surgery on Monday, but he isn't. The Cowboys certainly would not want to send Romo to a division rival, and there is no reason for Dallas to be involved in any trade sending Cousins to the 49ers.

Florio wrote that Rapoport "gets points for creativity and for filling a slow Friday afternoon with a little intrigue." Put simply, the three-way trade isn't happening and was so unrealistic it almost seemed concocted from an online message board."

Yeah all these new rumors everyday is getting kinda annoying. In a sense its good tho bc it proves our FO is keeping its plans close to the vest. But I don't think it's cool that these guys can make s**t up.

And the Plan B, in the event they still take Garrett, would be to go through with it and take Trubisky or Watson.

Or Plan C, which is to trade back for more picks...or something else.

Lynch is doing a good job not tipping his hand.

f**k Florio
You know you're a badass GM when you can sign one of the best slot WR's in the game WITHOUT one single QB on the roster.

Another piece of that is that it will be easier to sign a QB if you do have a competent WR on the roster.

I am taking a wait-and-see approach to Cousins. I understand he will come with a hefty price tag, however, it would likely cost less to sign someone like Marshall or Jeffrey if they knew a quality QB like Cousins was throwing the ball. At the end of the day, you would likely spend a lot less on the WR than you would if it were someone like Schaub or Hoyer throwing it up there. You might not even be able to attract one of the better WRs if you don't have quality under center.

Somewhat joking. But he could have tested the market...particularly, with teams that not only have a QB on their roster, but good ones.
