Listening to 49ers live... apparently they asked John Lynch about the DC vacancy? Did he say anything noteworthy? Could have heard incorrectly.

Missed that part, but I did catch him saying he didn't want to be a read and react defense. He wants to be an attacking style defense. To me, this means the d-line will do less 2-gapping and more 1-gapping. I wouldn't be surprised if we moved to a base 4-3 defense.

I love the staff we have assembled in the Front Office. For John Lynch to be able to pick the minds of Peters, Gamble and Mayhew, that will be huge in his development and of course the success of our team. Stoked!

Blair might benefit from this change. I would still like to see them pick up a true NT who can hold the middle against the run, and possibly get some pressure on passing downs. Both Buckner and Armstead need to keep working on staying low so they aren't washed out but they can play in any front. I'd like to see a four man line with Blair moving around presenting more a three man set with a rover. Perhaps similar to the elephant position played by Haley. That would require picking up at least one really top LB who is versatile enough to play inside or outside depending on what Blair is doing. This is why I find Foster intriguing.

John Lynch wasn't kidding when he said he would assemble a strong experienced staff around him.
