they still seem to be making the playoffs most of the time. Is it really that much of a big deal?

For now....

So what? They're still better than we are. They just got a whole lot better because of Stafford and they probably won't be losing to us next season.

at anybody that thinks that matter with the team they have. They just improved their only real weakness for the next 3 or 4 years for sure.

Eventually the shenanigans of completely disregarding 1st round picks will come home to roost.

Ok... And? Rams also made a SB, and made multiple playoffs, all that with a terrible QB. All this shows that both ways are viable. And now they probably will be the favorites in the NFC.

They'll still get b***h slapped by us twice a year

Now we're going to be the ones getting slapped. We don't stand much of a chance against them with Stafford unless we pull a hail Mary.

LET'S GO STAFFFYYY !!!

I don't usually agree with 9moon, but thats what I also heard lol

Ditto

There is no way the 49ers would trade that much draft capital for a 33-year old QB. Not happening. Both Lynch and Shanny would get canned for a move like that.

Besides, Stafford ain't all that good to begin with. If he was that good, the Lions would have been in the playoffs year after year after year.

You're trippin. Stafford is a better QB than Matt Ryan and 33 is hardly old for a QB.

Stafford couldn't even win a playoff game with the number 1 defense, and Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate as his receivers. He is good, but really would be a small upgrade over Jimmy G.

Both ways are viable, but which way is the smarter one?? Sure draft picks are a gamble, but this is a huge gamble. One slip us and the Rams set their franchise back for years. And the thing is, if they do win a SB they still set their franchise back. All this while the 49ers keep moving forward.
Well Lynch is good for roughly one to two big trades a year (Jimmy G in '17, Trent Brown in '18, Ford and Sanders in '19, Buckner and Williams in '20). Will be curious to see what he does for 2021.

SB is always the main goal. Theres still teams that haven't won one in their entire history. You think they would care if they set their team 5-10 years back and they win a SB? You think the Eagles rather give the SB back then be in salary cap hell right now? Come on...

I'm betting a deal to protect Jimmy. Some sort of deal for an all pro lineman (maybe signing Trent?) or getting a good free agent center (Mack?) All ShanaLynch have to do is keep Jimmy upright and good things will happen!

And we probably won't make it again as things stand today. Love Jimmy all you want, but he still lacks what the other 3 Is QBs in our division have. 2019 is not your average season, that was special.
