I was afraid of this, first time GM turned "Yes Man", towing the company line and stroking Paraag already.
What do you want him to say??? "Yeah, that guy is a problem and I'm going to have to get him out of here. It may take me a year or two but I'm confident I'll be able to undercut him and get Jed to kick over to the soccer team again at some point in the future."

For all the controversy about Paraag, the one thing that does not seem to be in question is that he's good at managing the cap and at negotiating contracts, which every front office needs to be on top of.

As far as we know, he was in on all of these interviews and Lynch and Shanahan still chose to go with the 49ers. I've got to expect that Shanahan likely asked the same questions about his role and what he has heard about him. It sounds like Baalke didn't care what Paraag did but Lynch (and probably Shanahn) do and this is a new front office structure. As long as he stays in his lane, he won't be a problem.

Lynch has only been on the job a couple of days and Shanahan wont' be here until next week, so, it's entirely possible that everyone is playing nice for now and it could unravel down the line. But, if Lynch and Shanahan both have 6 years deals and remain aligned, it's going to be a lot easier for Jed to move Paarag to another position than it will be to get a new HC and GM.

I'm sure if Atlanta loses 45 to 41 he'll still be just fine. That score is very possible btw.

Of course. It's a sport. You don't always get a limit of 7 mallards, either.

Go Falcons !

"I don't think it's going to be a big part of what we do..."

Translation: Paraag, Hampton and their team of analytics can f**k off...

...but I do need them for contracts so I'll play nice

That is my take on him too. Also by admitting that he was testing them for notorious leaks shows the the shoe is on the other foot here. I am starting to love his kick ass ways.

Also this is strongly showing that Baalke many have been a way bigger jackoff then we all thought. Maybe Paraag isn't so evil as made out to be? I have a feeling this will take time, but be far better.

The guy who gets kicked out the door almost always takes all the crap. I'm sure Baalke was part of the problem, but I wouldn't assume he went rogue and sabotaged the whole thing by himself. Jed and Paraag are not absolved of any blame, especially Jed. Hopefully they've learned. I'm very encouraged by this off-season so far.

For me, it's not about Paraag being evil but rather, Jed's mole and money ball tactics...from perceived ACL values, to street FA's, to Beadles-like free agents, to 2nd most cap space now to trading back and accumulating extra draft picks (playing the probability game) to the number of folks attached to this work to various other areas this field comes into play (how to hire a head coach, down and distance stats, booth advice), etc. it all reeks of money ball to me.

Now that Baalke is gone, we should get a better gauge of reality going forward and the influence of Paraag.

Either way, it's awesome to hear Lynch question this while still playing nice. He's no puppet and he has a real chance to turn the culture around from the inside.

No question!

"hate"? No. As I stated, I don't like the fact that we have a buch of inexperienced people but a willing to give them a chance. Novel idea, isn't it?

Philosophies I hope are gone with Baalke:
BPA philosophy regardless of team needs
Avoid drafting a QB early because it might turn out to be a mistake
Value drafting (ACL picks are a product of this)
Hoarding salary cap money when the team has so many holes

Agreed!

People associated with the NFL praise PM for his skills regarding contracts.

I'm also glad that we have a s**tload of cap space ready to go for our new front office.

Thank you PM for not Terry Donahueing us.

If they trade back, avoid drafting a QB early, draft injured guys, avoid WRs and don't make a big splash in FA it will look like business as usual but it doesn;t sound like that is the case. Fingers crosses indeed!
