I keep hearing all over the media how this move has really pissed off all the "credible" personnel people and any quality GM candidates who might have been more qualified and who worked for years to get their one shot at a dream like this. But just a few weeks ago the media was all too ready to point out that NOBODY with any credibility that had worked for an opportunity wanted anything to do with us and our circus and that we would have to take whatever we could get in San Francisco and be thankful for it.

And that what we lacked was any credible "football" guys. People with connections in the league and experience that commanded respect and could draw quality staff and players and that until we got that we were DOOMED!

So we went way outside the box and tried to get a football guy with credibility and connections-check. He wanted the job one else would touch with a ten foot pole=check. Would work with this new coach-check. Bringing in quality staff-check. Now Mr. Lynch please go get us the players and we will believe.

Great podcast sorry if already posted.

The guy said he talked to several people across NFL front offices and they were unilaterally surprised and annoyed by the Niners.

Great.

I do hope for the best but f**k you Jed.

Why would they be "annoyed" and why the f**k would it matter? f**k them.
because we took something they wanted

Exactly. We beat them to it.

And like someone said, Jim Tomsula was a HC in Europe but he was in no way ready to be a HC in the NFL.

Jay Gruden applied those AFL skills to the NFL!

I don't understand the relevance of Elway anyway. They fact that Elway had little experience doesn't make Lynch more or less appealing.

Classic. I would rather have Mr. No experience then Baalke sooooooo I'm happy.

I am definitely more optimistic than I have been since 2013.

So I guess he'll fail then right.

So I guess that nobody has any reason for concern, right? Look, I'm on record stating my support of Lynch. But let's not act as if concerned fans have no reason to be concerned. John Lynch HAS no GM NFL experience. That's a fact. Thats alone makes fans concerns legitimate. I have not read anywhere where someone said that he'd fail. But just don't act as if We the Fan have no reason to be concerned.
I think Aikman said it best, these "credible" front office types do not know what it is like to be part of a championship locker room. They have never been in the trenches, going through the rigors of an NFL season, and being called the best at the end of it. John Lynch has.

When he stated that he knows what he doesn't know, that told me he is strong enough to ask questions and get the people in here who know answers. He is the bridge to the owners, coaches, and players. His best attribute is communication and knocking the crap out of wide receivers. Baalke was a horrible communicator and im not sure how good of an open field tackler he is, but Lynch being able to work with everybody is a definite positive change of pace for this franchise.

I heard the same thing on "Inside the NFL" tonite.....and they did mention there were guys who put in their time ....who didn't get hired and were hacked off by it. Kinda funny to be the pig with lipstick on one week, and then NFL "analysts" and potential GM candidates crying sour grapes when the York's finally do what should have been done 17 yrs ago. Yes it was a great move, and tough tiddy for the sore losers who lost out...or worse, weren't even considered.

We aren't there yet, but at least we are at long last ,finally started. And that, in itself, should make us all happy...for at least one day. I think this yr could be one helluva lot of fun.

No doubt inexperience is a cause for concern. But one thing Lynch has than a much more experience Trent Baalke, is he is well connected in the NFL and has built relationships around the league. There's a reason ex-players such as alumni and other ex-players vouch for him. And I'm surprised some of you aren't surprised Lynch went out and already made a statement in hiring someone well respected and established in Adam Peters. The hiring of Peters should've set the fans at ease, showing us that he isn't going in blind to a job he knows nothing about.

John Lynch was hired for relations, whether it be with head coach Kyle Shanahan, free agents, media and other teams, Lynch is well respected around the league. Shoot Trent Baalke had tons more experience than Lynch and he did absolutely squat without Jim Harbaugh. I have no doubt in my mind that Lynch will build the 49ers back to be a respectable franchise again. Why, because he knows the NFL, knows what it feels like to be the bottom guy and most of all what it takes to play in the league. Not many GM's can say that.
Is there a chance John Lynch makes it into the HOF? And if he does, would it help at all? I suppose it's not really the end all be all of anything (Singletary was a HOFer... that obviously worked great for us lol)
