Yeah they were. Looking back, the difference between this off-season and the last 2 has been night and day. The last 2 years we were desperately trying to bandaid what was a terrible, dysfunctional situation. Bottoming out is the best thing that could have happened. Now we start fresh, with better people in place to lay down the foundation and build on it.

paarag will have to approve.

Haha feel it! That is your shtick slipping away! Haha
Elway could've blocked the move, but didnt. Maybe hes trying to help his friend John Lynch succeed, or maybe he was planning on losing him to a GM job soon anyways. Great hire either way.

Let's just call John Lynch what he really is here...President of Football Operations.

That's his role...he'll hire several specialist staff (pro+player personnel) to manage coaching, scouting, the draft and free agency and everyone will report up to him. And he'll have a dotted line relationship with Paraag for contracts and the large analytics department he runs (that could get interesting BTW) and both will report up to Jed.

He'll be the trigger man on draft day, control the 90 and work with Kyle on the 53 (of which, Kyle will be the trigger man).

he'll be tasked for managing all the staff, personalities, connections within the NFL and reshaping our image and building back a Championship culture.

Do you think he is Paraag's boss in Football Ops?

Good post NC. Similar to Elway in Denver. President of Football Ops + GM title. I like the structure so far.

I also like that Kyle will have final say on the 53. Of course they'll work together on figuring out the 53, but the HC having final authority makes sense to me. He's the one down on the field coaching these guys up and conducting the meetings with them. He has more intimate knowledge of the players capabilities once they are in the building and practicing.

All of this. And I'm getting more and more comfortable with the idea. It was a shock and an eye roll initially, but it's looking better all the time.

I am telling you, John Lynch ain't playing, man. Just you watch, he has all the resources he needs from Jed to make things happen. He is going to keep making calls to the guys he wants and go hey bro come to the 9ers, how much do you want? OK, no prob. Plus, aside from money, people actually want to work for him, that is a deadly combination when you are trying to put together a good crew!!

He makes it sound like some sort of dastardly conspiracy.

Yeah, I don't get it. Not the first time a darkhorse candidate emerged to get a job. People don't have a problem with the hire, but a problem with the "process"....I really don't know what they are talking about.

This off-season has been A+ so far. Get us a franchise QB and it's A++.

You aren't trying to say its a normal way to hire a GM are you?

But, big quesiton, NCommand...will peeg have the power to put the kibash on a FA if the salary offered doesn't fit into peeg's formulas? Or or more simply, can Lynch just go and hire whoever he (and kyle) want and peeg has no say as to how much was offered?

Normally GMs aren't hired by a random media member cold calling a head coaching candidate and asking him if its crazy for him to offer his services.
