It's nice that he's got a guy who has knowledge he can absorb, but at the same time, it's hard to ignore the simple fact that this is going to be a major jump for Lynch and we should expect a rough first year regardless.

Mistakes and missteps are to be expected; everybody has them. It's part of the process.

Disorder and backstabbing is not to be expected. That is a non-starter for long term health of a football operation.

LynShanny can have mistakes/missteps, but not disorder. As long as their relationship is strong they can push through mistakes.

I remember when Maiocco first started writing for the Niners. The guy's come a long way. One of the very few reliable beat-writers for the Niners.

Adam Peters would help a lot since he is currently the director of college scouting and the draft is his first test.

I feel getting Adam Peters would calm a lot of people here. It would at least show us that Lynch can get some credibility into the building. That's huge for hiring a scouting/personnel staff and selling to FA's, and to a lesser extent, coaching staff.

Matt Miller is part of the scouting community that from the sounds of it are insulted that the 49ers would hire a GM who hasn't had to put in any work to get the position of GM.

Who gives a s**t about sharpe and a scout? I'm seeing a lot more positives then negatives...especially with names that are being tied to his staff.

Not sure if anyone is laughing at us...but they are questioning the s**t out if it (naturally) and are acknowledging this is boom or bust hire based mostly, on personality, not qualifications.

It would be a tremendous addition, absolutely. I hope they snag him away from Denver. I'm not worried about the first year. It would be rough no matter who became GM, so that is why they really don't care about the fact that there will be growing pains early on. John is smart enough to catch on -- either he's going to "get it" or he won't. Year two might show us something, but year three will likely hold the biggest clue to how he's adapted.

I imagine Lynch will do his best to structure himself like Elway, in his own unique way. A top-notch personnel staff will go a long way to getting us a much improved team.

Some of the talk shows I've seen covering this are ridiculous. A couple were basically just a round table of clowns dogging the hire and making jokes about it, without any discussion of anything of real substance or really talking about the concerns in detail. Embarrassing honestly. Especially that panel that brought on Jay Glazer. That was terrible.
