you might be on to something Bob.

I don't think a white secondary is going up against the odds. Now if he had broken his leg, came back and made pro bowls...that's going against odds.

If we went hard after the top 3 GM's, at least we could say that we got a guy who was a part of a programming that hit on 50% of its drafted players.

Show me the GM or franchise that consistently hits on 50% of its drafted players.

pro bowls are nothing to hang your hat on

Kerr was also GM of the Phoenix Suns and flamed out after 3 years.

Yeah but that had more to do with our idiot owner. Kerr didn't do that bad of a job its just that the lack of talent from aging stars, injuries and Dips**t having sold off like four straight 1st round picks finally caught up with them.

Well.. maybe Jed is just trying to copy the Warriors success. The hired an ex player, TV commentator, and a guy with no head coaching experience to be their HC. They also hired an agent with no front office experience to be their GM. It has worked out pretty well for them! All they need now if their football equivlaent of Jerry West to consult.

Kerr was also GM of the Phoenix Suns and flamed out after 3 years.

And he is a huge success now in the role he was hired to do. Coach! Something he had never done before at any level

And Kerr was Lacob's golf buddy.
There was so much buzz and excitement about Louis Riddick, yet now the world has imploded because we hired a guy with no previous experience. Amazing what a few shorts weeks can do to a person's perspective.
I think at this point we should all be glad that Lynch actually took the job!

We didn't have any other option, so I gues it is what it is.

While I think John Lynch will be way better than Matt Millen, be careful w/ Elway comp. Elway cut his teeth in Arena League, had experience

Arena League, Wow! What an experience
I'm not so much worried about Lynch...meaning I wouldn't have wanted it to happen, but I don't think it's the end of the world. (although I did feel that way when I first heard the news)

but what I'm worried about his the people John chooses to advice him. If we are bringing in Dominik or other people who haven't sniffed NFL Job in a while, then it's basically we are hiring Dominick AS THE GM.

would yall have wanted Dominik as GM a couple of weeks ago? if his name was up there?

Also, like others have said, I DEFINITELY believe that the 9ers FO has hired shills to post on this forum, and social media (Twitter) The stuff I've read is crazy. Beyond "Faithful".

exactly! and that Cable wasn't hired
Most fans wanted this in terms of an ex great working with theteam. It would help with PR if it were at least a 49er great.

On the plus side, we will have John Lynch as the face as opposed to Jed York. I think this may also help in attracting free agents. On the minus side, I am worried about the draft. Right now, I am neutral about the hire.
What the hell is the obsession with Steve Young in here?
"You know, Kyle, I think he goes in these production, er, excuse me, interviews and maybe comes off a little confident, a little arrogant," Lynch said. "I don't care. I want an arrogant coach. I want a confident coach. I'd be hiring that guy in a second.-John Lynch
