I don't see Lynch as annother Mat Millen. He's not a sole decision maker at GM like Millen. Everything points to Shanahan and Lynch sharing the decisions.

John Lynch looks like he drinks a lot of beer.

People seem to be getting so worked up over the John Lynch hiring that they are forgetting that Kyle Shanahan will be coming to town, which is the bigger deal. IMO
Of course this is the truth. and in my opinion as long as they are going down this road then you give a pink slip and show the door to every single coach on staff. including you know who. there are no sacred cows. there is no more being nice cuz he was a x niner from the glory days. there are no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. you remove all of the stench from the past two regimes, burn some sage and incense and candles on a ouji board. hope to see blood running down the church walls and dogs forming in packs , dump every single so called quarterback on this roster and start from ground zero. you do not make a bold move like this and then p***yf**king foot around and say. well well. rathman should stay, such and such should stay. i believe in guilt by association and any one who had anything to do with what has happened to our team should be dispatched into the 7th level of hell. i also have no pets. i hate anything that loves me unconditionally
Does this explain your hiatus from the WZ? You were guilty of being a fan of garbage and had to purify yourself?

Do you know how many teams have "hired a first time HC"? What a ridiculous statement, no offense.
Every team in every league uses analytics.
Yes, just like how every team drafts a rookie QB. Do you know which teams that have the most success? The ones that surround that rookie QB with experience. We surrounded Shannahan with someone who probably knows less than him about being a GM.
My point is that we heavily lowered the odds of success which seems to be a York office tradition.
I don't get it, a lot of folks here said if we hire someone unproven or Gamble, then it will be obvious that Marathe has his hands in more things football than just salary cap. And now this is trying to be spun in a positive direction.
Look, I know we all want to be hopefull and love the 49ers but the dots keep connecting about our secret undercover GM but everyone wants to look the other way.

First time head coaches this year (5/6):
Sean McVay
Anthony Lynn
Sean McDermott
Vance Joseph
Kyle Shanahan
yep and that's just this offseason
Is ATL stupid for hiring Quinn? PT for hiring Tomlin? MIA for hiring Gase? lol

By all indications so far Shanahan is the trigger man. Nobody has reported the Lynch has final say.Originally posted by NCommand:Originally posted by pd24:Originally posted by NCommand:Originally posted by pd24:Millen had all the power and final say. It doesn't look that way for Lynch.
He is the trigger man. But yes, he'll have a small village to help him, so it seems.
Who said he is the trigger man? It is Shanahan by all accounts
Reported somewhere in these 144 pages...saw it yesterday. I mean, that is what a GM is hired to do no matter how much collaboration there is. There still has to be a trigger man (as Nolan noted).

I would agree wholeheartedly with you if Lynch was gonna have a role similar to Baalke, but he's not. He will most likely surround himself with former GMs and player personnel guys with experience.
Baalke was a former scout, a grinder they called him. Where did that get us? There are many ways to structure a FO. This might fail, it might not. I have no idea.

Just heard the Kevin Burkhardt interview, holy smokes am I impressed or am I impressed on what he had to say about John Lynch? You can hear the dude wasn't just paying lip service just because they worked together. He actually talked about specific things that impressed him when working with Lynch.
I don't doubt it will be a steep learning curve like what Matt Millen said, but I like Lynch, he is a straight up guy, as such I am going to stay positive and keep an open mind.

100% this. Not 1 fan would have been OK with this move months ago. Yet, here we are, trying to rationalize hiring a man who has even less credentials than our former failed GM and overseeing people (like Gamble) who actual ARE more qualified.
Best case scenario is he grows quickly into this role over the years and surrounds himself with outstanding people. Feels like I'm talking about Tomsula here. LOL

I would have to agree if it were up to the GM, but I'm pretty sure Kyle Shanahan will keep some of the staff.
