I never called Garcon soft just pointed out he does have a history of frustrating seasons. Ask Wsh.

If you know what I'm talking about then what's the debate about? Stats aren't the only measurement in determining who plays the game "soft".

If you want to say he's not an amazing WR that's fine, that doesn't mean he plays the game soft....that's my whole pt.

So Amari Cooper, Karl Joseph and Patrick Peterson are all available for trade?

patrick peterson would be amazing, but not sure why the Cardinals would trade him.

He's signed through 2019 and is 28 years old. Pipe dream probably but I'd certainly entertain it.

Why would you give up high draft picks for a 28 year old DB?

Because if you resign him, you'd have him and Sherman here through 2021. The style they play shouldn't affect much of anything in this scheme as you're seeing with Sherman now.

you got me. we are setting here as perhaps the worst team in the nfl and all we hear is people telling us why we do not need players. i guess if some had their way. we will make no moves. be very very prudent and cautious in free agency and just assume the guys who are hurt will all return and lead us to the promised land.

Those other two picks - I don't care about as much. But, we needed a QB badly in 2017 draft and we missed out on Mahomes. That's a major mistake. Having an excellent QB on a rookie contract is a game changer.

Except the plan was to go get cousins in FA. Ya'll would have yelled bust all last season when Mahomes sat the bench behind Hoyer for a yr lol.

Patrick Mahomes is the new Dak Prescott or Deshaun Watson that every team failed to get. Give it time...although, under Reid, he's in much better hands.

Luck is a major factor in winning sometimes. 2011 SF had a crazy turnover ratio (not sustainable) which helps us get to the NFCC. I think overall they were very healthy from 2011-2013 and look SF was good. Healthy starters for the long haul is one of the best ways to win games.

2014 they were all banged up and our play on the field showed.

Exactly.

Not with Kelce, Hill, and Hunt. I'm fairly certain I could throw for 300.

I will say that overall we seem to have the injury bug lol

I think Lynch has done ok. Feel like Thomas was a big miss, but otherwise the last two drafts have been fairly good. People forget how terrible we were when these guys signed on.

I'm not saying we can't criticize moves, players etc, I just think we need another off season and patience to really make a more valid argument either way.

Imo, I am very skeptical of our DC, but it's not like he's getting tons of talent either.

Very rational post.

But we are still terrible our record is 1-4 this year. Last year we were 6-10 and 1-10 without jimmy g. Where is the improvement ?

"injuries". all we need is to have everyone come back next year. do a couple of minor prudent tepid interest tweaks and we are a 11 win team
While I think Lynch and Shanahan have been too complacent in their rebuild and over-emphasize character/locker room over talent I don't fault them for most of their non-moves as many were for either an exorbinant price or a non-longterm solution.

Moves they should have absolutely made:
1 - Traded for Josh Gordon - low cost and immediately adds young talent to the team
2 - Traded for Marcus Peters - low cost and immediately adds young talent to the team
3 - Drafted an edge in last years draft class on Day 2/3 (Harold Landry, Josh Sweat, Dorance Armstrong, Obo Okoronkwo) would all be major upgrades over Cassius Marsh
4 - Use our waiver position and sign any upside ER (Jeff Holland, Tarrel Bashom, etc.) none can be worse than Cassius Marsh who doesn't belong in the NFL. These moves are free and my best guess is John/Shanahan are too big on "locker room chemistry" at the expense of cycling/upgrading the bottom part of our roster which is a big mistake as contributors and starters are actually found on waivers all the time, and we can take that chance with no risk/cost besides cutting someone we KNOW isn't a contributor.

Moves I can't fault them for:
1 - Khalil Mack - two first round picks and over $20M per yr for a non qb is a move with zero upside. He either lives up to the billing and MIGHT be worth it or he falls short. He's young but not that young and has 3 "prime" years left. This year is a lost year and what we gave up will be a top 5 pick either way so this is a move that would've made more sense in year 3 of our rebuild. I strongly expect we make those types of moves this offseason and next season.

2 - Patrick Peterson - No way should be trade anything higher than a 3rd and conditional pick for him. He has 2 prime years left in him and a massive contract that will need to be extended. A team that is pushing for the SB should make this move, that's not us.

Offense Pts

2017 20.7
2018 23.6

Offense Yards

2017 349.2
2018 378

Defensive Yards

2017 351.6
2018 348.4

The team is doing better statistically despite all the injuries. Looking at the 1-4 record is like looking at a book cover and thinking it's the whole story.

Why are we losing? Don't want the simple injuries reason (legit reason)? Here's why, we are a league worst -1.6 turnovers per game and 27th worst in penalty yards per game at 69.6.

That combination is near impossible to overcome no matter how good of a team you are. Period.

We have the talent. We are outgaining our opponents despite utilizing a backup QB, RB and WRs. That shows two things: 1. We are well coached. 2. We have the talent to overcome a ton of injuries.

This is why believing John and Kyle are failing is misguided. They aren't perfect and they both have specific decisions worthy or criticism but overall, both are doing a very good job.
I really hope the Cooper rumors are true and we are pursuing this. We are getting a first round talent for possibly a second or third rounder. It is totally worth the investment in my opinion Jimmy will make him look great and like Derek Carr And even though it's the Raiders and people think they might not want to trade him across the bay, it's still in a different conference so I would think that part of it wouldn't be so true. The Raiders would value a good pic over the gossip in my opinion
