I don't get it. So depending on how Gamble handles the draft will give Lynch the evidence he needs to retain or let Gamble go? How's he going to assess the draft immediately after the draft without the rookies playing a down?

The were looking purely football for the position and it's easy to hire a lawyer for contracts...they already have one, plus Marathe is the contracts guy. If they are trying to build a deep bench and will be hiring more people this is a really good hire. He's bright, gets along with people but is also very forceful.

Quarles is an interesting guy with experience. Not sure he would want to leave TB, after a decade of experience, to join SF but he was an honor society guy at Vandy. Another bright guy and he has been working in personnel for over a decade.

He will be evaluated on everything he does through the draft. He wont be assessed on the draft so much as on the perceived quality of his work and scouting.


This is pretty commonplace. I expect Ballard in Indy to hold off on any major changes until after the draft.


Tennessee hired Jon Robinson as GM last year and they didnt really shakeup their front office until May.

I have a feeling this is more about how he'll mesh with Shanahan and other folks he wants to bring in vs. player performance.

Also, Jed York personally likes Gamble and he probably is giving a him a chance because of that.

So Gamble will be graded on how he gets along with Shanahan/Lynch instead of how well he scouted players? That's kind of stupid.
