Like I said, I cover the 49ers salary cap, Maiocco covers 49ers news, not the salary cap, he is also media, he doesn't have access to player salaries, neither do I, that's why I rely on sources inside the NFL who know the players contracts and have deeper access to the NFLPA Database.
And like I said, cap room is just that cap room, not cash, thus it disappears if not used, but they won't not roll it over.

Some here think the unused cap space is guarded and protected from the team/owners and can't be used in any way except to sit in a special place waiting to be used.
umm, I'm trying to say it doesn't go into the owners pockets, it disappears if not used/carried over.
Unused money is the same.
The Saint forfeited the money , not to the NFL but in the ability to carry it over the following year.
Each team has to write a formal letter to the NFL with unused cap space they want to carry over.
That was from my understanding of the CBA
