I think without question this is our biggest bright spot, 49.5 million in cap space... even more if we end up getting rid of kaep next year. That could fill some major holes in our team with top tier talent. I'm not looking for illegitimate championships, like the saints or broncos, we don't need to BUY our best player. I hope we use this money strictly for both o and d line with consistent, quality players. This season we will see how good our unproven talent is and make up for what is lacking in free agents. 2017 we should be back :-) please hold back your hate for me saying this season is doomed but it is. 7 wins at best. Hope I'm wrong but just don't like the schedule and our unproven young guys... yet.

Like I said, I cover the 49ers salary cap, Maiocco covers 49ers news, not the salary cap, he is also media, he doesn't have access to player salaries, neither do I, that's why I rely on sources inside the NFL who know the players contracts and have deeper access to the NFLPA Database.

And like I said, cap room is just that cap room, not cash, thus it disappears if not used, but they won't not roll it over.

UPDATE 11:52 a.m. ET: Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Broncos left behind $267,088, the Saints forfeited $42,712, and the Rams didn't carry over $1.245 million.

So as you see, the Saints forfeited money, meaning they didn't pocket the cash, teams don't carryover the full amount due to practice squaders getting post season raises, and guarding against any NLTBEs being attained.

Why would the 89% matter, when the Raiders, and Jags never hit 89%, and still have money leftiover, and oh right, they carried it over, every penny, not pocketed.
