Distracting in general, you have a guy in the locker room that has made it clear that he wants out. People will naturally question what level of commitment he has, starting with Kelly. The detriment is that you have a guy doing his own thing, going through the motions but wanting out. From everything I've heard and read about Kelly, this is a situation that he's going to look to a conclusion for before they get deeper into the offseason.

I could see it in training camp and after the season starts but I don't think it is a problem now. There just isn't enough going on to be distracted from IMO.

Yup. That really ticks me as well. He should have been a long time position coach for us. Really excelled in that role.

What makes this rumor weak to me is the claim that the "problems" have to do with a disagreement on Kap's situation.

Baalke and Kelly both knew Kap's situation was up in the air when he took the job. That was likely one of the first things discussed, the starting QB position is a big issue. It's hard to believe that a core issue like Kaepernick's situation wasn't already discussed and agreed upon before Kelly was offered the job.

They're not going to agree on everything, but they have to agree on the Kap situation. That was problem #1 heading into the off-season.

Yeah, that wouldn't be the cause of so much supposed friction. If anything, IMO, it's the direction each wants to take in the draft. Kelly probably wants an offensive player and Baalke wants a defensive player.

I could see that, but don't think it would result in being as big an issue as reported. It's not like we're 2 weeks into training camp here. We're a week into voluntary OTA's. A LOT of time to get a deal done. Even if Kelly wants Kap gone ASAP, I'd still think he'd prefer to net the best draft choice possible, rather than cut him for nothing. It's still early in the process.

Living here in Philly and listening to sports radio I still hear fans and media ripping Chip on a regular basis of how he destroyed the Eagles and set them back. There are very few of them that thinks it was a mistake to let him go and just wanted him to coach and take away his GM duties...with that said I find this not to be creditable and think possibly it got overblown...what I think probably happened was Chip has been campaigning to move up in the draft to get which ever qb he wanted and Baalke probably didnt want to give up the picks needed to do so and with the timing of LA moving up something was said that leaked out and probably taking the wrong way which created this story...Coaches and GMs disagree when it comes to the draft all the time and more times than not it doesnt become a problem..im not gonna worry about this until something specific is reported instead of two people aren't getting along

I absolutely agree! I feel like this is just another "screw Kelly and the Niners" bit of garbage reporting. I feel like these sorts of issues had to be ironed out before hiring Kelly and even IF it is true... like you said GMs and coaches disagree frequently come draft time. I bet if anything it's a smaller issue and probably doesn't even pertain to Kap.

One of Kelly's former scouts was going on about how much Kelly prioritized leadership and character in his qbs during the draft process in philly. Exemplary behavior is what Kelly most desired in his QBs. "Culture beats scheme" is Kelly's version of "the team, the team, the team". Chip absolutely despises "me guys"(djax), so i could definitely see him wanting Kap to GTFO ASAP with all the distractions he brings to the locker room.
