How does the Rams trade affect us?

Damn. Wentz looks pretty good too. His footwork is incredible. I'd be cool with either one, bucker or an OLmen.

What if we loaded up on D and O-line then took Hogan or whoever was available in the 5th round? Assuming Kap and Gab were fully on board we could see what kind of improvement we made through the season. If we're tanking (as most predict) we give Hogan (or whoever) a look at the end of the year. If all is crap then we see what kind of QB was available in '17. Meanwhile we've started shoring up the D and OL
If the Niners stay at 7 I don't care who they draft as long as his knees haven't been operated on.

Would you pass on Myles Jack?

Seems unlikely that Wentz would fall all the way to the 9ers at #7, but if he did and it looked like Kap was staying, I wonder what Baalke would do. Gabbert, Kap and Wentz all competing for starting QB... the forum reaction might burn a hole in the internet.

Wth mixed medical opinions on his evaluations, at #7, you really think Trent would risk yet another "ACL" type player? IF it were any other GM, yes, I think they would take him. But with Trent and his past Hx of All ACL teams, I just don't see him taking the risk,. Trent is under the gun here. Nobody has said he has to have a great draft, but after going essentially
"O-fer" on days one and two in the FA market, he HAS to build this team thru the draft. Sure would have been easier if he took an OL (say Osmele), or a DL (Wilkerson) or OLB
(Irvine), S (Sean Smith), or my favorite Mack at OC....but he did zero, zip ...in FA, with tons of room to maneuver cap wise, he stood pat. Just makes his job that much harder to fill in the gaps on OL, DL, OLB, MLB...QB...now he has to do all that with draft...and if he took a guy with questionable medicals , and it backfired, that would be sufficient grounds for firing. I don't think he can take that risk.

Herw's another question...wiht Trent's hx of drafting guys who didn't fit our scheme, eg, D 3-4, would Trent take Bosa if he fell to us at 7? We have had experience with that with carridine, and it didn't work out all that well. Can he take Bosa at #7 if he were there? We need an impact player wiht no question marks. Bona fide impact player and that means immediately. We arent' switching from a 3 -4. So....??
We will no longer be the 1st nfc west team on the clock. That's about all it changes.
Aside from the fact that neither Goff nor WEntz will be there. Makes the decision easier for us. It also means we get to work on impact players on OL and DL , IMPACT players, not QBs , neither of whom should start for a season or so.

The joke is, everyone has agreed that boht Goff and Wentz need to sit a yr and learn first. Anybody really thiink that Wentz /Goff is really going to sit for the Rams after trading away all their picks in first 3 rds this yr and next? Whoever they dfraft IS the Rams new QB....immediately. When you think , Fisher had everything BUT a QB, and now they are moving back to LA, they literally had to do it.. Pretty stiff price tho, and Tenn sure came out smelling like a rose, wht 6 picks in top 75. Wow. And that is this yr. Then there is next.

This is a win for the niners and it makes it more of a win that a trade did not send Kaepernick to Denver. So the niners are sitting OK at QB with CK and Gabbert, with a young guy or two behind them. Add in that the niners kept all their picks, this year and next...another win. If they had traded two firsts and two seconds for the #1 pick I'd have been very unhappy. Trading four unknown quantities for one isn't a wise move unless they think the one guy is a lock...which isn't the case here.

My list for #7

  1. Buckner would make the defense better this year.
  2. Bosa if they could make him a pass rush OLB/DE.
  3. Ramsey if they believe he could greatly upgrade a CB spot and help the pass rush with coverage.
  4. Goff or Wentz if one falls.

*Jack is on hold until cleared by the niners medical staff. I've read that some teams have not passed him so it's a worry.

So if the Browns are trading down and we trade up to 2nd as stated here then I think that would burn a bigger hole.
I wanted a defensive guy anyways with the top pick. Followed by oline cats.
Dtg, I would feel let down if we took Bosa or Ramsey. One we would have to convert, the other we aren't sure we could use him/need him. Buckner is my favorite and if gone, hope for Stanley, our immediate RG and takes over for Joe S when he hangs 'em up. Perfect timing. Of course I'd take Tunsil too, but never will happen. I feel bad for Jack, but c'est la vie.

Or Kaepernick and our 2nd for Cleveland's #1? Now that would be rather special! Not likely, but special!
This trade basically has made it that so no one besides Stanley or Bosa would fall into the 7th spot. At this point, its a horrible situation and I think Baalke should simply try to trade the pick. Its very disappointing.
I'd like to hear from the folks now who wanted to win the last few games. The idea is great in theory, but horrible from a pragmatic view of things. What did that achieve?
