There's a difference between Wide Receiver and being a receiver. He's not built/cut out to be a wide receiver in Chip's offense. He's perfectly built/suited to be a receiving back in Chip's offense.

Yeah I would have to agree. This article was from an Aussie blogger who was fairly new to the game as well. It was an interesting exercise to muse the possibilities and learn a little along the way.
this game was a lot simpler when it was just "here Jarryd! catch the ball..... now run!!!!!!!!"

He wouldn't be a full time player and he isn't injured right now. Wasn't Injured when he returned a kickoff 95 yards for a TD in the National Championship game.

I hope Hayne returns to the US ASAP as well. I think he has spent enough time chillin' and catchin' up with his family and friends down under. He only has a few years left of NFL so it would be wise to make the most of his remaining time before training camp commences. He has a lot of competition ahead: Hyde, Harris, Draughn, Davis, Gaskin, Bush, and possibly some FAs. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it tbh, but hopefully he does.

Imo Hayne has a lot of physical transformation to make this off season. He had been built for a different game and his body style not one that should be expected to show immediate success in the NFL. I believe Hayne has the mentality to play in the NFL. I think he has the body control and agility to play in the NFL. I think he lacks that short burst twitch muscle movement. His body was more built for strenuous long term stamina physical exertion and he needs to rebuild it for short duration sudden burst exertion. An NFL game only averages like 12-14 minutes of actual playing time. Hayne is used to running around for what, 4-5x that?

I am looking forward to see how he looks in season 2. He got his taste of what the NFL is last season. He will have a full offseason with team which should make a difference.

100% Agreed.

I disagree a bit with what you are both saying. I think that Hayne, as he is now, is physically up for the job of playing running back or on special teams. What he needs to work on is his knowledge of the game so that on any particular play, he makes the right decision and quickly without any hesitation. Also, I think that training fast twitch muscles only gives very small improvements particularly on an older athlete.

Doesnt count, that's not even pre-season level. If he gets injured in College, pre-season guys will be like real bullets, Kenyan Drake hasnt played against real bullets but with pea shooters.

Yeah a bit hard to teach 20 years of football in a year when those teaching it to him are the most clueless bunch in international football (all codes).

Being such a lousy season, it's a wonder they didn't play him more at RB or PR. Of course, when you're a coach trying to save your job, why do that? Didn't seem to make any difference though. Coach or two gone. RB after RB run into the ground. ST's a mess. Players cut, back in, dropped, replaced. No team cohesion or unity. No confidence. No joy. No wins.

Dumb.

Defensive coach not sure how to use an offensive player and with a ST coach who never kicked a ball in his life, training ST players how to do their thing.
Looking forward to what the new coaching staff can do with the team and how Jarryd will fit in to it!
