Great athlete, will make some nice highlights, both he and the 49ers are better off with him going elsewhere at this point.

@ Qb .. Thing is this.... u guys think he lost it already??You dont lose that speed .THAT SOMETHING.. Which Kaep has

Who cares if he has speed? And you do eventually lose it.

I look at guys like Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr and they are farther along the path of developing into complete NFL quarterbacks in their 2nd season than Kaepernick is in his 5th.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Young talent in this league have already surpassed Kap in football IQ and pre snap adjustments. Not looking good for Kap in THIS SYSTEM. He may succeed somewhere else because lets face it, he did succeed here at one point.

You can talk about speed in a straight line all you want but you never ever get to run in a straight line in an nfl game from the qb position. You want to scramble fine but you still need to be shifty, you still need to make people fear you when you throw. The thing working against Kap is he is getting worse. His career is on a downward trajectory. And it's not a one season blip on the radar deal either. Particularly with qb's you'd expect them to get sharper mentally with experience especially in terms of pocket presence.

Ya because everyone cares how fast Brady, Manning, Manning #2, and Rodgers are. Athletic QB's in the NFL don't last long as starters 99% of the time. Look around the league since Michael Vick. Remember Cordell Stewart? It's about how smart you are, how a QB can dissect a defense on the field, make the right throws, and adjustments to keep the sticks moving.

He hasn't lost the speed. He's lost the ability to function as a NFL QB. I do believe he "had it" at one point, but right now he's lost.

I don't think it's as simple as opposing defenses adjusting. That's a factor, but he's still playing similar defensive schemes. He ran more complex route concepts under Harbs and Roman too.

Kap's problem is once he faced a little bit of adversity in his career, he crumbled. Everything eroded at an alarming rate, mostly his decision making and timing. He was never the most accurate passer or threw with the most touch, but he used to at least function with the design of the offense. He hasn't been able to do it anymore.

You have to control what you can control, even when the pieces around you aren't great. For one game, Gabbert was able to do that, and we saw a respectable offense for the 1st time in weeks.

Uh... He already lost that "something". It was simply the element of surprise and, by definition, can not sustain. Look at his mechanics, instincts and slow thought processing. He really doesn't have any tools to become a good QB. His throwing motion is worse than Tebow's.
Gabbert seem to lift the 9ers. The Drive, Determination, and Passion has come back. That'a the three keys to success that we were lacking.
Anyhow, that was a good gutsy WIN...
I'm wondering if everyone is missing the cerebral part of the game... Does anyone think Gabbert puts in the time to dissect defenses over Kaepernick ? Or is it too early to tell? From what I can see Gabbert pushes the ball out earlier and runs through pre snap reads faster the Kaep...

It was reported out here that Mike Iupati got chewed out by Bruce Arians after a game because he wasn't communicating properly with the quarterback and Arians said something along the lines of "Over here, we trust the QB to know how to call out the protections......etc" and really lit into him over it.

Its stuff like that which makes you wonder about Kaepernick and the lengths that coaches have gone to in order to prop him up and mask his deficiencies.

Well, we did see Gabbert looking at game film after the touchdown. I felt like Kap was doing it for the first couple games, but has not been looking at game film during the game for the past couple games

Agreed...Kaep doesn't read at an NFL level plain and simple

watch the replay of Gabbert's 2nd TD. Kap would've been sacked in the situation.

Kap is supposed to have the legs yet gabbert was the one moving around the pocket to avoid sacks like a champ
