The question is: Which QB will the 9ers dump from the roster?

At what position....? Gabbert likely isn't the answer, but its clear that Kaepernick isn't with his delayed throws, difficulty reading a defense, lack of general awareness and accuracy. Great athlete, will make some nice highlights, both he and the 49ers are better off with him going elsewhere at this point.

Was very frustrated with Kap

BG played like a back up today that the other team didn't have tape on.
One thing though: his pocket presence and accuracy were welcome.

Bottom line: I am worried about the future of he team with either of these guys.

They have the Jags tape and some preseason. But he's changed. The bad experience he had with the Jags left him with experience to be better. You can kinda see it but hardly anyone believed it until today.

4 years is long enough.

I don't think Kap is a great athlete. I think he's fast and has a strong (slow) arm but he's not a great athlete.

Ask the oline who they want at QB and it's not even close

Does anyone believe that this team owes Kaepernick another 3 or 4 years to figure out what clearly doesn't come naturally to him and most likely never will. I look at guys like Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr and they are farther along the path of developing into complete NFL quarterbacks in their 2nd season than Kaepernick is in his 5th.

@ Qb .. Thing is this.... u guys think he lost it already??You dont lose that speed .THAT SOMETHING.. Which Kaep has
Nice performance for someone whose career had been written off. A great response to adversity. I honestly was surprised though, I half expected him to be David Carr (damaged goods from all the sacks he took before you guys got him). He went out there and was fearless he had nothing to lose and gave it a good shake. All he can really do is make it hard to not bench him and he did exactly that. If the coaches bench him pretty sure they'd be facing a player revolt. In his favour anyone who can stick around after such a disastrous start to his career is a pretty mentally tough dude so don't write him off. People are saying in this thread he has no chance to be the starter next week or even next year. The guy is 26. Sure he's more likely to be a game manager qb than a pro bowler but honestly competent qb play will get you far. I

Gabbert definitely had something to do with that. Was much more in rhythm with the passing offense and getting the ball out quick, and on time.

Also getting Devey off the field was huge. They shook things up and rotated Brown in at RT, with Pears at RG. Going forward I want to see Tiller-Brown at RG/RT.

Martin had himself a decent day too, aside from that penalty on the 1st snap of the game lol.. Best game he's played this year.
Gotta go with the hot hand.

That's what I was amazed with

So put him at RB or WR.

I don't think he lost it, I just think he never really had it. He came out and took the league by storm, and then the NFL adjusted to him and his tendencies, he never adjusted back. People bring up 2012 but that was a long time ago and we quickly saw in 2013 that teams were adapting and forcing him into the things that he is not comfortable with,

-He can't make quick reads most of the time unless he stares down his receiver from the moment the ball is snapped, there's a delayed response time of sorts which allows defenders to recover.

-He rarely lets it rip unless a receiver is completely uncovered and won't throw receivers open

-His footwork is a mess

-He has one speed touch on his throws, other QB's adjust their touch depending on where the receiver is as well as the defenders. Kaepernick will either gun it in at 100mph or he'll overthrow or underthrow the pass or sail it out of bounds.

-He doesn't keep his eyes downfield, he has a tendency of panicking in the pocket, looking down and then running into sacks.

-His accuracy is all over the place, sometimes he'll make a perfect throw right on the money but many times he requires the receiver to go back or make a great play on the ball to complete the pass.

-Lack of awareness, from the playclock to the game situation to when he should stay in bounds...etc. That stuff is fine for a rookie, not so much a veteran QB.

-He doesn't move well in the pocket, for as athletic as he is, his lateral movement is pretty crappy, he's got great straightline speed but isn't especially elusive.
