As much as I want it to be Hayne, I think it will be Ellington. Ellington will already be active as the 3rd WR and the eligibility spot for Hayne will likely go to Mike Davis, who is more likely to see the field as the back-up RB. It might be a few weeks before the staff trusts Hayne enough to use him on offense and until then he doesn't offer enough to be active solely for PR/KR.

Yeah I agree with you. Hayne will only be activated if Ellington can't cut it.

I'm hoping for Hayne. Need to keep Bush and Ellington fresh for the offense. Both Ellington and Bush also seem to get injured frequently. Shouldn't risk it.

I think it will be Hayne for both PR and KR

I don't think it will be Hayne but it should be. Ellington is decent as a return man but nothing great. He's struggled staying healthy so far but could be a huge asset for us as a slot WR. I don't want to put him in situations to take a beating returning kicks. Hayne's built better for it

I'm betting we'll see Hayne Monday night. On the first Monday night of the year, people around the country want to see the Australian sensation and I think the Niners will accommodate them.
Plus, there's the little fact that nobody did nearly as good as he did returning punts. He's got to be in there on ST Monday night.

Hayne for punt returns and Ellington as kick returner would be solid IMO

I'd be happy with this.

I am hoping that Hayne will become a bonafide star and boost our special teams to another level. That alone could boost the offense. This team deserves a damn break.

There is no reason it should not be Hayne especially for punts.
He is the best story out of camp and he appears to be the most talented of the bunch.

I think they'll give Ellington the job. Hayne probably won't be on PR's the first 3 weeks, and then only if Ellington isn't cutting it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hayne on kick coverage though.

part of me says i would be scared cuz he is a rookie with no regular season experience,,,, then i stop and slap myself cuz that is the old coaches mindset. unable or unwilling to give youth a chance. the more i think about they will have hayne out there for punts. how the hell are kids supposed to develop if you give them no game time experience?
