If He makes the roster I don't think Reggie will. They have the same strengths and weaknesses.

Reggie Bush is a lock to be on the team. No way he gets cut.

Our season starts start of March and ends first weekend of October
honestly i'm not sure who else is like Hayne but there is a guy called Roger Tuivasa-Sheck that i think could be the next possible target
Every commentator here thinks Greg Inglis will make it but he has chronic knee injuries and one hit at his knees and he is done.
2 guys that are seriously thinking about trying out are Martin Taupau and Jason Taumalolo they're massive humans

Reggie has way more speed...you can never have too much speed on a team. He's going to be awesome in the read option

OK. Why?
If he gets his blitz pickup and knowledge up to NFL standards, what do you feel would prevent him from being a starter? Is it the fact that he has vision and can find holes? Is it the fact he is elusive? What makes you feel he couldn't be a starter? It doesn't matter if he is currently a fringe player. I'm saying if he can gain the knowledge necessary, there is no reason he couldn't be.
Maybe there's a sliver of a chance he'll develop into a starting-caliber running back one day. I sincerely doubt it. He's sure as hell no where close right now, though.

He is a great story, and the fact that the 49ers are even considering him for their 53 is a great accomplishment. But is the hype train out of control? If he were just a rookie from a mid-major school, would he make the team?
I think that despite his strong performance in the preseason, he does not make the cut. He's shown promise, but he doesn't offer the value of other fringe players. Hayne doesn't have the football IQ yet to maximize his talents.
Sorry Aussies, but the Hayne Plane's takeoff may be delayed.
you are drunk sir

Hey Guys,
Aussie fan here. Very keen watcher of the NFL prior to Haynes arrival albeit following Philly. Although after visiting your great city in 2014 and falling absolutely in love with the place i'm now a keen watcher of not only the Giants but the 49ers also.
Being a Rugby League fan (Parramatta Eels to be exact) i was devastated when Hayne announced he was leaving as he was our best player and pretty much everything our team did revolved around him. The guy is a freak not only as an athlete and for the individual performances he shows but also the way he can also lift his teams morale just by pulling off a big play.
I really hope the 49ers pick him in the 53 man squad. The bloke is a world class athlete.
out of curiosity with haynes arrival and rise in the NFL has it peaked your interests in our competition the NRL at all?
No. But if Kaepernick decides to leave the NFL to go play rugby, I would watch.

Matt Maiocco @MaioccoCSN 3m3 minutes ago Not a surprise, of course, but I'm hearing things are looking very, very good for Jarryd Hayne sticking on 49ers' 53-man roster.

Originally posted by Pillbusta:Yeah, I get what you're saying, and I do agree that the 49ers will still try to win as many games as they can. But this year, I think they'll be inclined to gamble more. Let me try to explain where I'm coming from. Let's say you could come up with an objective way of gauging how much a player contributes to your team. You break his impact into one of the following categories (listed in order of impact):
You say we are retooling TB says we are reloading but this is week 1 so as a fan I ain't looking to just do the best we can and charge it to the game for a better 2016. I get your reasoning but I gotta believe TB is always looking both short and long term because he has already said as much on countless occasions. Just because we've shifted personnel doesn't mean this team is settling on just being here. I gotta believe we're focused on winning as many games as we can and go as far as we can go. Hayne can help and it seems he can be a significant factor on ST right away so this is why I think he has earned his spot. No need to overthink this. We've had issues on kick returns for a couple years now and along comes Hayne. We need to keep him
Significant
Solid
Marginal
No Impact
Suppose you have 52 players on your roster picked out. The last one comes to the final wide receiver. Let's say it comes down to DeAndrew White (unproven rookie) and Brandon Lloyd (known-quantity veteran).
Brandon Lloyd doesn't really have a ton of upside anymore. You're 90% certain he's going to be a "Marginal" talent on the team. There's a 5% chance he provides "No Impact", and there's a 5% chance he exceeds expectations and provides a "Solid" contribution. What you see is what you get.
Then you look at DeAndrew White. White is a wild card. We have no idea what to expect from him. Perhaps he won't develop at all during the season, and struggle with adjusting to NFL life (route-running, learning playbook, adjusting to not being the best athlete on the field anymore, etc). White is more volatile. There's a 60% chance he provides "No Impact", there's a 20% chance he provides "Marginal" impact, and there's a 20% chance he breaks out and provides "Solid" impact.
So, say this was the 2014 49ers. One of the few holes on the team is a deep threat. Well, Brandon Lloyd doesn't have a lot of upside, but you're really confident he's going to fill that niche. You really need that deep threat. You want to be sure someone fills that void. Because you know what you have with Lloyd, you opt to keep him. You make a slight sacrifice for the future.
Now look at the 2015 49ers. We have lots of holes. Realistically, we're not going to the playoffs. Maybe if a handful of things break our way we'll sneak in. Brandon Lloyd is not the difference between the playoffs or not for this team. It doesn't make sense to keep him, he doesn't move the needle enough to justify keeping a roster spot. However, if DeAndrew White breaks out, maybe he's one of the players that helps us sneak in. White is also much more likely to bust. He might not contribute at all. It's sort of a boom-or-bust approach. Keeping White also helps us in the future.
Right now, I think Baalke is thinking more along the lines of the latter mindset when it comes to roster construction. We're not particularly close to competing, so upside trumps known values.
