Unfortunately, that's not going to work if he tries to run high and truck a guy like Navarro Bowman.

Could Hayne start as an RB for any team in the NFL yet?
Or just not good enough?
Originally posted by Empire49:I disagree. We're in the middle of a topic titled "Does Jarryd Hayne make the team?" We're talking about a fringe-53 player. I think he is talented enough to make the 53 man roster as a role player, but being in the conversation of a staring-caliber RB? No way. Totally disagree with you there.
The only thing keeping him from being a starter is lack of knowledge in blitz pickup. I haven't seen enough of his blocking skills to know if he'd be effective even if he was good at blitz pickup. He finds holes and runs the ball very well, so there's no problem there.

Hayne is Tomsula's "no NFL experience" project, and makes the team in his first year. Tank Carradine was Harb's "no NFL experience" project and gets cut after a few years. Just sayin'...
you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about, just saiyan.
I know, too much for you to comprehend.

Well, that's not what I reasoned. I said that if this is really a "retooling" year -- and a lot of people objectively think it is, no matter how much we don't want to believe it -- the team is going to favor potential and long-term impact over what they can do this year. I'm not saying that Hayne can't provide value this year (of course he can), but I think he would've had a harder time making the 2012 team than the 2015 team; the 2012 team had to maximize the marginal/incremental contribution of players, because they had such high aspirations. The 2015 team arguably needs to be thinking longer-term.

Hey Guys,
Aussie fan here. Very keen watcher of the NFL prior to Haynes arrival albeit following Philly. Although after visiting your great city in 2014 and falling absolutely in love with the place i'm now a keen watcher of not only the Giants but the 49ers also.
Being a Rugby League fan (Parramatta Eels to be exact) i was devastated when Hayne announced he was leaving as he was our best player and pretty much everything our team did revolved around him. The guy is a freak not only as an athlete and for the individual performances he shows but also the way he can also lift his teams morale just by pulling off a big play.
I really hope the 49ers pick him in the 53 man squad. The bloke is a world class athlete.
out of curiosity with haynes arrival and rise in the NFL has it peaked your interests in our competition the NRL at all?
