Do we need a new GM

This team is drafting a QB high in 2016, and D-lineman throughout 2016-2017. Face it, the talent is there, but we're finally rebuilding. No more recycling garbage from the Nolan/McDrunky era, the toilet is flushed,

IT'S A NEW DAY!!!

But yes, Baalke is a horrible when it comes to the NFL Draft. I just can't forgive him for the 2012 class. 2013 class not looking so hot either, except for Eric Reid. 2014 class looks like a mixed bag, but none of them have had a chance to truly prove themselves. If Lynch and at least one of the corners pan out, then this could end up being a decent class. But Jimmie Ward got pantsed by Marshall last season and generally looked like he did not measure up or belong in NFL. I don't know, Im gonna let up on the negativity to Baalke temporarily until I see how they play. I have no expectations this season for the team. If we win then Baalke will have regained my trust. If we face plant, then Baalke will be the target of my ire.

Do you forgive Walsh for the 1982 draft?

Seriously though, look up the drafts picks of the Walsh era and see just how many were "wasted" on no-name players. (1979-1988 drafts). Lots of great players, sure, but far more "who?" guys.

Hrm... Kap is a starter he drafted.

What about the FA acquisitions? Boldin? T. Smith? Both better than who they replaced...
Do you need a new glass stomach for making this a poll question?
Baalke makes a lot oif micro moves that take a long time to play out. He's done good things, but also the putsch this off season probably could have been done better.
If we're talking about his work in the draft, the draft is a crap-shoot. Even first rounders are a 50/50 hit. Go to any year's first round draft and about half those players are going to be "Who?" players. It's just the way the cookie crumbles. Not considering Armstead, Baalke is on par. Aldon Smith was a good pick, I mean, the guy was dominant when he wasn't getting in his own way.

Where Baalke excels at the draft is stockpiling picks. Baalke understands the draft is a crap-shoot and instead of selling everything for one amazing player, he plays the number game. Why do you think we're stock piling picks for 2016 and 2017? If we draft 10-12 players every year, chances are 4-5 will stick and have roles on the team, be it starting roles, backup roles or special teams. Whatever the case may be, he does fine in the draft.

Now, Baalke is not perfect in the least bit. He may be too lenient on taking chances with players who have a bad history. We've had so many arrests the past few seasons (majority of which were Aldon), but this affects the team. I'd rather have an average player who comes to play every week than an elite player who plays 6 games a season because he's either arrested or suspended.

There's plenty more about Baalke I could rag on or praise him for, but for the mean time, I let that be.
No, we don't need a new GM. He has kept this team competitive while keeping us out of salary cap hell. What more could you ask for?
anti-Baalkers are hilarious...

I'll still take his drafts over any other GM with maybe the exception of Schneider, although Schneider hasn't been too hot recently

do yourself a favor and look around the league, every team has plenty of misses.

His trades and FA pickups are pretty solid as well, no expensive misses

No GM has been better at bargain shopping in FA. No GM has been better at stockpiling picks. Not many GMs have drafted better.

This would be a more interesting topic if people with knowledge actually started it. But because everyone he drafts isnt an all pro their rookie year then Baalke sucks. Nobody has a better GM to compare him to except maybe Schneider and thats just because evreybody here is obsessed with the Seahawks. We'll find out about the 13-15 drafts in large part this year. He's had 3 pro bowlers basically quit or do stupid s**t to get themselves fired. There are many teams who dont have that many probowlers on their roster period. He's literally lost more talent than many teams have this offseason.

I juat wanna know who is better. I dont agree with everything he does, but im not gonna b***h because i realize he's one of the best. Who's better? Who is it this fanbase wants so badly?

What? How is Goldston better? He was a PI machine and killed good defensive stops all the time. Ward has played six games and those plays with Marshall has just as much to do with schemes...no way should he have been one on one with him, that's Vic's fault as well...what are you crying about with Iupati? He was a good OG and wanted to be one of the highest paid guards in the league, you don't give $8.5 million to a guard.

It's like a broken record in here same people crying about the same thing over and over. they expect every single player drafted to be a pro bowler yet don't see that our old coaching staff never played any of the young players or developed them!

And like others mentioned a GMs job is more than worrying about a 1st round pick...your arguments are weak at best....you should have put in your poll who would be his replacement, I'd like to hear some names.

Like you said Schneider's drafts have been trash for the past couple years but he gets a pass for having two great ones...baalkes 2010-2011 drafts were great and we've have vets in place the past couple seasons that no rookie was gonna unseat.

People don't realize how deep this team has been and you'd think after going 8-8 in the NFC west with 15 players on IR last year they'd be okay knowing the talent is there still.
Good grief...spare us this bull.
Not to be the Elephant in the room but I'm pretty sure we can all name the 27%.

Good grief once again. So Ward is garbage because Fangio decided to let him cover a 6'4" vet WR in the slot? Seriously, that's your bases. THL408 did a hell of a job breaking down Ward in a previous thread. The dude can play. Show me another rookie DB that's never gotten owned.

Man I'm sooooo sick and tired of these Debbie Downers. They have no bases to back up their claims. I want the Niners to succeed not to prove to the national media, but to prove to these so-called fans.
