Those are his numbers in SB wins Gotta add 5 catches for 77 yards and a TD for that time he played with another team and lost a SB.

His SB with the niners was over 9 catches 170 and 2 tds a game.....that's ridiculous.

Doh. Nice catch. Career totals for SBs (added that game):
33 Rec
589 yards
8 TDs
As to the argument that Jerry was the product of Walsh and the WCO, Jerry led the niners in Reception only once in his 4 years with Bill coaching. His Rec under Bill were:

1985 - 49
1986 - 86
1987 - 65
1988 - 64

Bill's offense was so predicated on spreading the ball around. He was still finding out how to properly use Jerry. Give credit to Holmgren and later Shanny for making Jerry the absolute focal point of the offense. That's when he turned into that 100 catch, 1500+ yard guy. His skills forced them to make him an even bigger part of the WCO.

How is it that the 49ers somehow didn't allow him to play out his career here?

I like to think that if he had played out his career here, 49ers history would have been totally different.

2000 rolls around and we are still in the midst of salary cap hell really couldn't afford the WR core we had. We chose to go with the younger TO in the rebuild. Short term paid off in '01&'02 (12-4 & 10-6 playoff teams.). However you could make an argument that since TO was gone after 2003 and Jerry was highly productive in Oakland might as well just went with the GOAT and saved the headache that was the end of the TO era. However, they woulda got crushed if they chose the 38 year old rice over the 26-27 year old TO.

Oh the days of the salary cap hell....sometimes you gotta think back on those days to appreciate that, if we can't agree on anything else, we have to agree that our front office doesn't put us in salary cap hell anymore. I remember that in 2001 we were still having things paid out in 94' still counting against the cap.....ugh....

IIRC we had something like 21 Mil in cap penalties, and the cap was only around 75 mil...

It'd be like having nearly 40 mil in cap penalties this year....

lmao
I got
1. Rice
2. Moss
3. Brown
4. Irvin
5. Harrison
Honourable mentions Hutson, Swann, Largeant and Owens I would have some of the older guys from the early era but I love everything about those 5 guys I listed with Irvin being very underrated imo

IMO it's:

Jerry Rice
Sterling Sharpe
Micheal Irvin
Randy Moss
Marvin Harrison

I know I'm probably way high on sterling Sharpe, but IMO he's the closest to Jerry and had he not had the neck injury he would probably be right up there on the Rec list. I can't imagine how much better GB offense would have been with a healthy Sharpe from '95 to '98.
#1 Rice
2 Chris Carter [I really dislike him but he deserves the props]
3 Tim Brown
4 Loss, I mean Moss

Sterling Sharpe a very underrated receiver and humble, couldn't stand Shannon though lol, I like your list and remember owning a sterling Sharpe just do it nike poster back in the early 90s, Sharpe getting injured cost him as did Irvins injuries and off field dramas but when going was there anyone better to watch even though can't stand cowboys

The thing that stuck out to me about Sterling was his production as soon as holmgren got there in 1992. Sharpe averaged 105 catches for the three years proceeding his injury. This was also with a young kinda scatter shot Favre. Holmgren found his "Z" receiver in Sterling Sharpe.
