Aside from Brock, Reid and Bethea, we don't really have anyone who has taken command yet at the DBs.

Interesting to see how the depth chart going into the first pre-season game only 10 days away.

Wright's been playing well too so far. I think he's getting close to solidifying his spot, if he hasn't already. He was definitely expected to start when we signed him.

Only thing that needs to get sorted out is slot CB. If Ward doesn't come back healthy and ready for the role, it could be Brock shifting to the slot on 3rd downs, with Johnson or someone else on the outside. Similar to a few years back when we would move Rogers to the slot and brought Culliver in on 3rd downs.

Our defense has played superb and been reliable the last few years. Good enough to win at least 2 more championships. We would have two more championships right now had we had an offense that had any consistency in moving the ball when it counted.

I'm tired of having no confidence in an offense to put a drive together when the pressure is on and the game is on the line. That's what I want this year. An offense that can prove to me that it rises in big game situations.

Field goal drives in big game situations when the game is on the line has been accomplished time and time again, but TD scoring drives in the same situation is something I hope we get better at. Either that, or we just go up big in points and not have to worry about it.

you know - i was just thinking that last night.

how long has it been since the Niners just crushed souls? Seems the total blowouts went with steve.

i am probably forgetting 1 or 2 but damn...cant they just destroy someone and run up the score once?

Well in 2012 we did beat up the jets and bills pretty badly. I remember Rex's funny after game where he repeated the stats as a recipe for a butt whoopin.

My worry is Baalke lying to the Ninernation again about trying to keep a player (Gore) when he's not. His recent comments about keeping Vernon and Aldon. He's lying about one or both. Why can't we ever retire our greats without shipping them off somewhere else first. Why couldn't Rice have stayed, Gore, Lott? I understand Montana somewhat because of the Lucky Lefty behind him but I know even if Vernon kills it this year he'll be gone. Probably too the Cardinals at that. Idk I like Baalke's defensive talent selections but his offensive mindset sucks. How many years did we need a deep threat? He's an idiot in that department. Why not get a tall wideout so Kap won't have to be soo accurate. Cam Newton has accuracy issues but he has two redwoods to throw to maximize his window and minimize the error margin. Whatever #F*Baalke!

And by "shipping them off" you mean being offered fair market contracts here and the PLAYERS choosing to go elsewhere for more money. Gotcha. Baalke's fault.

Baalke's being cap savvy for what? To lose to the Hawks? To bring in Reggie Bush when Gore can catch? He used to when we threw to him. Look the fan base had been screwed so at least keep a fan favorite. Yea we really tried to keep Iupati, just to replace him with what we're complaining about now? Spend some money. The right side sucks. It is Baalke's fault, Frank always knew he was leaving because the effort wasn't there Iupati as well. My problem is the replacements aren't upgrades. Will we always be a player away because of "cap savvy"

Where to even start with this.

Back to the original comments. What did Baalke have to do with Rice, Lott, or Montana? Different Owner, GM, and HC. I remember that Walsh was the driving force behind the philosophy of getting rid of/letting go a player one year too early rather than one year too late when they are eating up a high salary and a roster spot that may have been a player who was about to make the next step to NFL starter.

Iupati? Great Run blocker, poor in pass protection - not worth top dollar.

Gore? Love him. Wanted him to stay. But he is living on borrowed time as an NFL running back, and he saw a better opportunity (from his POV) to get to another SB with either the Eagles or Colts. He didn't want to stick around with a new HC and scheme change while he's looking retirement in the eye.

Baalke has made mistakes (just look at the 2012 Draft), but don't blame him for everything.
Don't compare Walsh to Baalke please.

Walsh had more than his share of draft face plants.
Seattle is us last year, the three year high of contending is now in the hung-over stage. Whining about money, a few players getting big contracts and other serviceable vets getting cut to pay for it. Wilson is going to see more games like the NFC Championship against GB. Does anyone think Lynch is on the upswing? Thirty year old rushers fall off cliffs.

Field Condition, and chance of injury cause of it... takes over as my #1 "worry"

Plant some Bermuda, and be done with it

My only other Worry is the OL, specifically the right side, If we dont make a move for some better talent,
It very well could be our Achilles heel this season

And he's my all-time favorite. I just don't think anyone is above comparison.

Mine too, however there some in this forum that think Baalke is immune to any criticism.
