49er Petition: "Keep Gold in the jersey" an edit to the Alternate Uni's

Dont really care about Alts but the gold trim is really nice. Dont know why they didnt do it in the first place

I know it sound cynical BUTTT is someone getting a kickback for doing this uniform change.

Why do it at all.

If they were smart - they'd have had 3 choices for the fans to choose the winner.

petition losing steam. Seems unlikely to hit 2k. Too bad. It'd be nice if the alt unis didn't look like they belonged to a underfunded high school.

Don't worry, it's not like this petition was going to get anything done to change anything. It's as ridiculous as the title of the thread, since there's no gold in any of our regular jerseys, so there's no gold to "keep" in the alts. lol

Just thinking that Jed seems so impressionable that a large number of signature could be a motivating factor (more jersey sales) to get him to tink about some changes for next year (or the next). I'm certainly not paying NFL prices for an ugly high school jersey.

The kickback is the team making money from the jersey sales...

The alts are slowly growing on me. They looked hideous in the first camera phone photo they released, but looked better in person and in the official photos. Hopefully they look good on TV too.

Gold trim makes it look nicer, but it takes away some of the edge. Plus people calling these alts. "low budget high school" uniforms doesnt make much sense, considering our regular uniforms are just as simple.

I dont like it in general, but if were going black alts, keep it uniform with our look. The version they put out is the best option IMO.

I couldn't possibly disagree more. Our red jerseys aren't accompanied by red pants, just as our white jerseys aren't accompanied by white pants. The gold in the pants ties the helmets into the uniform and adds sophistication to the overall uniform. These jerseys and pants are simplistic and identical. That makes them boring. Uniforms don't have "edge". A shirt never kicked someone's ass.

My sentiments exactly. The leaked camera phone pictures on mannequins looked TERRIBLE, But watching the uniform on our actualy players and in motion (promo video) planted some positive seeds; I'm beginning to think that when our beloved players are actually wearing them in ACTION, my opinion will continue to sway toward the positive -- not that my opinion matters haha.

They dont want the uniform to be tied together by anything though. They want straight red on black. Im sure if the rules were different, theyd add a black and red helmet to match too.

Its not about what the uniforms will or will not do, its about embodying the attitude they want to bring to the field. The players wanted something dark, mean, and aggressive looking. Adding gold trim kind of defeats the look theyre going for.

I understand that the gold contrast to the red and white jerseys are what make our normal uniforms great, but these uniforms arent supposed to be a classic look. Theyre just supposed to be black and red.
