Binging it back to football, if Baalke knew he was having problems with Kap, then why in the F did he keep him and paid his $11-12 million salary? It would have made more sense to accept the 3rd rounder in trade and eat part of his contract than to have this cancer with these distractions. It would be better to eat $4 miilion in salary cap as opposed to $12 million.
So what's next? Do any of you foresee Kap being the bigger man like Alex was and accept his back-up role and act like professional and be mentally ready if the team needs him?

Football is not political. In lieu of studying critical race theory and post colonial studies Kap should be studying the playbook while working on his passing game. To the point where he eats, breathes and lives football.Originally posted by Niners99:Originally posted by Squirrel:Originally posted by Niners99:Originally posted by Squirrel:Originally posted by Niners99:Americans also have the right to spew hate speech and march around with white robes on. Whats the point behind these defenses of his actions?
Hes protesting the wrong thing, like an idiot. Its an insult to all the black people serving in the military and fighting for that same flag.
Hey Kap, protest against racists, not this country you numbskull.
I agree with the bold, but I think the importent piece is that Randy Cross thinks Kaepernick is a better social activist than he is a quarterback. If that's true, it doesn't say much about his skills as a quarterback.![]()
I have no problem with Kaepernick expressing his opinions on racial issues or taking a stand. I think his position can help bring a lot of extra light to it and additional much-needed discourse. But, if he wants to be a champion for social issues, he needs to get his head on straight and do his job on the field well. 20 years from now, no one will remember him for taking a stand if he's sitting on the bench. He needs to be the dynamic athlete that lit up the league in 2012, and he needs to pick the timing of his protests better.
As it is, his play on the field will have him relegated to a back-up role or off the team, which won't do much for his social concerns.
The problem is, most everyone who is saying "He has the right to protest what he wants" is really just agreeing with him without wanting to get crap for it.
Just because you're famous and have a platform doesn't mean you should be using it to express social or political opinions. Kap is a football player. His opinion on Black Lives Matter is irrelevant IMO. STFU and try to learn the playbook.
Its like as soon as some athletes learn they have a platform, they think people want to hear their thoughts on stuff that has nothing to do with the reason theyre famous.
I think you and I are in agreement for the most part. However, I think his position as an NFL quarterback can be used t bring attention to social issues if done right and if he's performing his job on the field well.
But he should be educated about it first. There are actually a TON of recorded cases of police brutality against white people, but the media doesn't make a story of it. Doesn't fit their narrative.
A white guy was face down on the ground with his hands on his head, and a white police officer shot him to death for no reason. Nobody ever heard about it.
Common sense tells you that if the majority of police were truly racist, and out to kill black people, there would be thousands of black men killed by police every year, not a handful.
This issue is about poorly trained cops on power trips going into dangerous situations while nervous and armed. When a guy goes to his wallet, and they blow him away, thats because theyre jumpy and poorly trained. Its not because they all put hands into a huddle and yell "kill blacks on 3....1-2-3 kill blacks!" and then break for their patrol cars to start the shift.
Cops make everyone nervous. When white people get pulled over they dont do a secret white guy handshake with the officer and get a "sorry brother, be on your way!"
The black community needs to stop internalizing everything and focus on improving their own community. Stop rioting over a half dozen cop shootings, and start fixing the hundreds of thousands of black on black shootings that happen around the clock.
If he does not become a good passer he will not have a job in the NFL. If he does not have a job in the NFL his political stunts will fall on deaf ears. As they should in most cases. People do not watch sports to be preached too in a partisan manner. Be it Tebow or kap, their religion needs to be their own. Fans are interested in football.
We should be debating 49ers football. Not race relations in the western world.

I think we already have that answer.
His bet has been hedged.

He was with the team throughout the glory years. A very recognizable 49er figure for about 20 years.

Kelly's go to guy for race relations and dealing with issues relative to troubled black players or an racially tinged things at all. When Kelly can't figure out what's wrong, or needs an expert he calls Harry Edwards. Man is a giant in his field

I think on some level that may be what Kap and his circus crowd want. To distract from the fact he is no longer a viable starting QB.
To take focus off his poor play and make things about people "hating" kaepernick.
IMO the focus should be on what he does on the field, although his political stunt was on the field, or bench, I think what he does or doesnt do in the pocket is more important.
What matters is his inability to lead this offense to the endzone. I don't care if Kap is a third world Maoist, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist or Black Panther. What I care about is his inability to be a viable starting QB for the 49ers.
It's time to move on- not based on his political views but based on his play from the pocket.
I agree. He s**t the bed on Friday night and he is now the most expensive back up QB in the league. Time to move on.
For those who keep saying that he is doing a disservice to our vets who fight for our freedom because he sat during the National Anthem. What have you done to help prevent the 22 vets that kill themselves everyday? Do you think standing up for our National Anthem is doing a service to them? Do you think our government pumping them full of antidepressants, anxiety and pain medication is a service to them? If you aren't actively involved in helping our veterans to live a free and prosperous life than STFU. Just like Kaep, you're all talk and no Fn action. So what makes you any better than him? So how about we keep things about football or shut this thread down.

I have to disagree with the bolded. There is no way to know at this point how his protest will sit with guys in the locker room who might have a different perspective on this issue. Seems to me that one of his primary goals this off season was to try and win back a locker room that many reports suggested that he had lost, or maybe never even had. While I have no problem with his choice I can't really see how this helps him with his teammates

I know if I were a player on the 49ers I would be disgusted to have someone like that on my team. Giving the team a bad name for dumb acts like that that he caused on his very own, I'd want him outta here asap

The Kap statement must have really bugged Kelly, nor someone in management if he sent Dr. Edwards to see what's up.
