Kap is a second round pick that had to earn the starting job (sitting behind a #1 overall QB in Alex Smith) and is still with the team that drafted him. Kap has been to the playoffs multiple times, and the super bowl. Kap has earned a high level multi year contract while Blaine is still looking for his first real contract after being given everything as a top ten pick as a rookie. Many point to Blaine taking Kap's job last year. Kap earned the starting spot on a championship caliber team coached by Jim Harbaugh! Blaine was anointed by Jim Tomsula, Jed York, or Trent Baalke during last years miserable 5-11 season.
I guess the same tired argument deserves the same tired refrain. He didn't earn the job it was given to him. After Smith helped set the table for their Super Bowl run Kaepernick was able to guide the team the rest of the way, and then lost. The following year, to his credit, he got the team to another Championship game, and lost, to Seattle a team that he sucks against on a regular basis. Not sure where all of this love comes for a guy who consisistently fails when the stakes are highest. It really is a mystery to me

What was Blaine doing while Kap was doing all of this?

That is completely immaterial to the question at hand which is who will be the better choice to move the team forward this year, not based on their past performances but based on who they are right now as players. My hope is that it will be Gabbert, because I think he might be the better option. If Kaepernick wins the job in camp then so be it. I just hope that the decision will be based on merit, not because his coach has a hard on for his "potential", which has proven to be something of a myth.

It will be Kap due to his contract. Also, he is the only proven QB on our roster.

Getting the crap beat out of him on a horrible team. What would Kap have done if he played on those Jags teams? I think we got a glimpse last season.

Kap was also playing injured last season

What does that have to do with anything, was this about puberty?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Kaepernick absolutely could not have been on the field as much, even shadowing, or in all of the meetings if he was spending his time with the Docs and trainers. there is only so much time in the day and if you are sending hours a day in rehab when the others aren't, you are falling behind. And if he isn't spending hours a day on his rehab he is crazy. That time can not be neglected. And like I said, how much time would someone spend learning about a coach and playbook when they were rehabbing in another state and trying to get traded?

If any of the scenarios put out by his apologists (not saying you are) are remotely true, he was angry, feeling betrayed, upset with team docs, etc. Either they need to roll all that stuff back, or everything I read in the past few months leads me to believe cramming and preparation for a team he doesn't want to play for would not have been a high priority.

I get that you are trying to put him in a good light, but I just don't see that we have any inkling that Kaep was cramming for Kelly and his system in Colorado.. And not because it is Kaepernick we are talking about, but almost anyone in that position. But given the realities of his surgeries, that alone would have precluded him from spending as much time with coaches and team mates i this past camp. I don't think it is anything that can not be overcome, but I think Gabbert definitely got ahead of the curve, and not just by a little. It remains to be seen whether or not that will show on the practice field when they go head to head in a couple of months though. And while Kaepernicks only comment so far is that he is "digging Kelly a little" I haven't seen anything remotely like walking back his trade request, so how far into the team is he really?

I do agree though that Kelly will force proper study habits, and will not tolerate people that "don't get it"...particularly if he doesn't see them putting in the off field study required, so going forward I don't expect to hear about that.

Questions, questions, and no definitive answers.

I see your points. I just think it would seem logical for a QB who didn't have any major surgeries to schedule his rehabs around the team/position meetings. If his surgeries were more serious than he'd absolutely be spending damn near all of his day rehabbing but they weren't and he is said to be ready as soon as OTAs but definitely the preseason which is a few months away. He will be ready to play anywhere in between that time frame (3 weeks to 3 months).

That trade request happened at the beginning of March and he was rehabbing there in Denver but all of that appeared to come to an abrupt halt once it was time to report. The trade talks died down significantly and ultimately went away about two weeks ago so I don't think that has any effect on what he is/was spending his time doing. His agent appeared to be running that show anyways and there was only one team that was truly involved (Denver) but never once was compensation talked about because Kap wasn't willing to restructure so those talks didn't go very far. He met with Elway once, maybe twice out of the 50+ days since that request so it really wasn't that serious.

Kap has always been a hard worker and there is nothing that leads me to believe that isn't the case anymore. There are photos from their offseason program of him being on the field working with the coaches, just not throwing the football. So he obviously had time in between rehab sessions to do that so I'd imagine he had time in between sessions to attend the position meetings and discuss certain things with Chip and Day.

I wouldn't say I'm intentionally trying to put him in a good light, I just have a different speculation than some. I do however believe (and have stated this quite a few times this offseason) that Blaine is the perfect QB for Chip and his system. So I think Kap will have to be locked in when he does come back and really showcase that dynamic aspect that he brings to the position because Gabbert (playbook aside) checks the block on everything Chip looks for in a QB. You're right, we will see how everything translates when it time for them two to get on the field. I personally can't wait

I don't recall any reports of his eyes being injured. His play looked like he didn't even belong in the NFL.

Like Manny Pacquiao it was his shoulder, he didn't have eye surgery he had shoulder surgery.
This just in from sources closes to the towel boy on Kap's high school team:

Kap wears coke bottle glasses when he's not on the football field.

I think you need to go back and rewatch those games. Only one player on offense showed up in the 2013 and 2014 playoffs and that was Kap. Go rewatch the games.

Yes sir!

We would have lost to Atlanta in the NFCCG if it wasn't for Kap! Not to mention the Superbowl would have been a blowout if not for Kap. It's crazy how quickly we turn on our own.

HAHAHA

I love how spin something in a way that describes how your stable of Kap lovers are... I think one of you guys even said it, straight out a couple pages back.

The pot calling you high, or however the saying goes.
