That's why his number is so important. The team is devoid of top talent at some crucial positions(CB, T, pass rusher[either from another OLB or interior rush], WR) so these are positions that we're going to have to invest heavily in either through FA or draft. Even in we draft - at some point we have to extend that talent at a high level of pay. Whichever way we go about acquiring talent, they will have to be paid, at some point or another. We can't have top tier talent walking out the door every 4 years and expect to be good. The great teams are able to cycle through role players and mid-level talent but maintain their top tier guys.

Because of the new CBA rules allowing for cap rollover, each years' excess means more. While we have a ton of space, any extra we create can be rolled over to next year - which allows for signings(FA and extension) not only this year but the year after as well. We would be fooling ourselves if we don't expect a major roster overhaul within the next 18 months. Chip Kelly's system is going to require much different players than we already have in several areas and there are going to be moves and those moves will most likely require available cap space.

The problem here is some people are so tied to previous QB's that they can't let it go. We could have had ANY QB as the backup, there are a group of people that would be ready to anoint the backup the from day one.

I really don't think a lot of Kap fans get it. I believe it was a couple pages back where someone posted "What are the haters going to do if the "Old Kap" comes back?" That statement in itself shows a lack of awareness of what happened. Kap never really regressed in his abilities or lack there of, his productivity regressed, as defenses adjusted to take away his strengths while he did not improve on his weaknesses. If you look at scouting reports on him coming out of college they look like they could have been written in 2015. "Old Kap" is just going to get you further decline as defenses took away things he did well, he appears to even be beaten down mentally, the only thing that will turn around the productivity decline is a "New Kap" that improves on his weaknesses. I don't understand the blind support this guy gets. I ask any Kap fan to do one thing next year if he plays for the 49ers, watch his head when he drops back to pass until he releases the ball, only focus on that, then watch Russell Wilson. That is the big thing I noticed way back in 2012, he doesn't look around like most other QBs, especially when under pressure. For those that have never worn a football helmet it obstructs peripheral vision quite a bit so you have to move your head around to see the whole field, not just your eyes.

What is a Kaep fan?
Someone who thinks he has the best chance to be the best qb on the current roster?
Someone who appreciates what Kaepernick has done for the 49ers?
Someone who would like to see Kaepernick succeed as a 49er?

You throw that term around in most of your posts and you complain a lot about thesed unnamed people. Why not just call people out specifically? You probably consider me to be a Kaepnerick fan but most of what you attribute to Kaepernick fans doesn't apply to me.
I say this because that kind of affects the credibilty of your posts and that is a shame.
A Kap fan is someone who exaggerates his strengths and accomplishments while down playing or making excuses for his weaknesses and failures. I think the best thing to equate them to is someone campaigning for a political candidate. When Kap was benched for Gabbert most of them became quiet, when Gabbert had good games they stayed quiet, when Gabbert had bad games they became re-energized and reappeared. They also seem to react with joy when any upper level QB has a bad game. They make posts that are contradictory and irrational, holding everyone else to a higher standard than Kaepernick and then staying silent when someone calls them on their BS. As an example many claim Kaepernick's 86 rating in 2014 was decent, yet QBs putting up 90's in play-off games this year are called chokers. Back when Wilson and Kap had identical numbers they were calling Kap elite and Wilson trash. They root for every QB not named Kaepernick to fail, even if it is Gabbert.

I am a member of another site for Redskin fans and a site where various sports are discussed, that and 20 years of being on the internet I have never encountered anything like the Kap fan, it is like a cult following to me. On the Redskin site I did not see people supporting RG3 on his down slide mentioning things like "Robert might have had 2 picks and a fumble lost today, but Peyton Manning had 3 picks and a fumble." It boggles the mind.

Am I a Kaep fan? I never once called Wilson trash so if you consider me a Kaep fan you are contradicting yourself. I don't root for Gabbert to fail. I am a fan of Alex Smith.
You spend so much time whining about JKaep fans it really takes away from anything interesting you may have to say about the 49ers. It makes you come off like a one trick pony.
I do recall you mentioning that you are a Redskins fan as well.

Rooting for Kap now makes no sense. Kap couldn't even beat Seattle under Harb and being carried by a top Defense, forget about winning the division. Is a Philly rejected in Kelly, more rejects on the coaching staff, weak o-line, young defense, a GM that stop believing in Kap, coming off injuries, etc etc etc etc, going to help him or make him a better QB...

Kap is a lost cause, the 49ers is in rebuilt mode and Kap shouldn't even be in and is useless to that equation.

Kap is better off packing his bags and running off to the Texans, where he can be carried by another defense

Bottomline, Kap is not helping himself or his NFL career staying with the 49ers; and the 49ers aren't helping themselves by keeping Kap any longer as the 49ers is in full rebuilt mode; and Kap needs to go else where in order to have a chance to revive his career, it's not going to be with the 49ers

Why did you quote yourself?

This is the very definition of obsession. I'm not sure what planet this post is referring to, but on this planet I don't see anybody who roots for every QB not named Kaepernick to fail. What boggles my mind is how delusional this all is.

So I am not the only one who thinks it is weird, thank you.

Do you know ANYONE who roots for every QB not Kaepernick to fail? I don't. I've lived in the SF Bay Area all my life, I've been a Niner fan for over 50 years, I've got at least 30 friends and acquaintances who are diehard Niner fans and I've never met or known ANYONE who roots for every QB to fail except one.

Maybe someone in a Kapernick jersey ran over his dog?

There is a lot of them in here, since it's the Kap thread, and they also like to report people when people's posts disagree with them it seems. It's like their only way to prove they are right lol.

After how bad Kap played this last 2 seasons and got 2 head coaches fired back to back, No One wears those anymore (unless they want to be laughed at)

How is this not trolling? It's posted on each page. Now the guy is bolding his posts.

Kaep played 24 games the last 1.5 seasons. Go game for game and list the ones he was BAD in. Hope for your sake you can prove he was bad in 12+ games.

Says the one that claimed he's all about "winning" for the 49ers. If that was the case Kap and "winning" would go hand in hand, but the reality is Kap was 8-8 2014 and 2-6 2015 and got 2 head coaches fired back to back, hardly "winning".
