Pretty much this. Blindfury you gotta realize bro, Alex/Young struggled in their early careers. They got better as time went on. Kaepernick came in, was playing the QB position different than the NFL had really ever come to play against, so he came in hot, Not to mention he took over a 13-3 team destined to go to the bowl without him... The biggest and most glaring fact with kaepernick is hes regressed. His numbers arent going in the right direction, his thoughts and passes are also going in the wrong direction. Russell wilson is even struggling because defenses have had a couple of years to figure out how to stop these types of quarterbacks. If Seattle didnt have such a dominant defense i wouldnt be surprised if seattle was 1-7. I see russell wilson getting the same benefits kap did, his defense is really carrying that team and hes doing "just enough" to keep them in games to squeak out wins, or to put up a few points while his defense has shut out games. When seattle loses that defense ill be very interested to see what happens to Russell Wilson.

You're being disingenuous a bit. Alex Smith has struggled for more than half his career and some will say he has struggled at times this year. Andy Dalton has struggled for 4 years and now in his 5th year he turned a corner. Luck is struggling harder than Kaep and they've played around the same amount of games. He's in his 4th year. I think people see what they want to see. 10 years in the league his numbers have stayed the exact same. Rating averaging around 85-86.

Kaep regressed at the same rate his team regressed. This is no shock. Unless you're a Rodgers or Brady, you're going to fall off if your offense gets worse each year. It's natural.

But this year Kaep is poor, I'll give you that. I just don't buy the previous years. Did he have poor stretches? Sure. But he wasn't bad. Yes, Wilson is headed in the same direction but I think what helps him is he has better coaching and is in a system that plays to his strengths. I think he's more polished than Kaep but he has similar faults as well. It's just easily hidden due to that run game and D.

Bolded #1 thats the Thing, theres no one better to compare Kaepernicks struggles and strengths with than the only other QB that played on the same team/system and HC with. Alex smith turned the corner when Harbaugh came to town and our defense started lighting teams up. Its no coincidence that Kap takes over and is doing pretty much everything smith was doing just with flashier plays. Our defense and HC, did an amazing job in covering up both QB's flaws. And if I ever hear Kap compared to luck again ill throw up. Theres no comparing. Put kaepernick on the team Luck was drafted into and you would be coming up with the same excuses you are now "They were just a 2-14 team what do you expect kapernick to do?!" Well Luck came in and made them immediately playoff contention and contenders. No excuses were made, he came in and produced, THATS what good QB's do.

Its not even a discussion. Kapernick inherited a superbowl bound team, They were favorited to go to the superbowl without him, why do you ignore this when comparing these two QB's? One inherited the worst team in football. The other inherited a superbowl caliber team, How can you even begin to compare them? Its honestly not even a discussion when you try to compare them. If we are gonna discuss this leave Luck out of it, because anyone outside of our fan base would just laugh at you or anyone else that trys to compare Luck to kaepernick.

To the 2nd bolded, Again, listen closely. Kapernick was carried by our defense just like Alex smith. THE ENTIRE NATION knows alex smith is nothing more than a game manager who can win games with an elite defense or above average defense, yet he went 13-3.. 13-3. 13-3.... Repeating again 13-3. When your team is winning games running the ball, having a ridiculous turn over ratio (which is a high indicator of who will win the game) and your QB only needs to throw for 200 yards and throws a few TD's every game or two, (given his highest TD is 21 for a season) This is what you get. A QB WHO RODE our elite defense and turnover ratios to easy stats, good ratings and wins. Sure in the playoffs kaepernick showed up. He had some great freaking games but thats it, WAY too inconsistent and teams caught on and now hes plain crap.. But if you are gonna compare QB's, Lets talk about Mark Sanchez, He appeared in 2 AFC championship games for the JETS, Why is he a backup QB now? Oh thats right, because the jets had a terrifying Defense and Run game that hid his flaws. Sanchez was 3,474 YDs 26 TD's 18 INTs and also 3,291 YDS 17 TD's 13 INT's. Respectable numbers for a new QB in the league, yet he only got those numbers because of the way they ran there scheme and team, yet hes NOW a back up quarterback because he too was crap. kaepernick was in the exact same situation with us, he hid behind our elite defense and run game. One day what i just wrote will sink in.

Still have to hope Kaepernick sits, watches, rests and learns. In the short term he is still the best shot the team has. If they want to make a change then you have to hope Gabbert takes a huge leap...very unlikely. Other than that...draft a rookie and go through a few years of growning pains.
